The Port of Pecém is increasingly well positioned to attract new business and consolidate its position as one of the main steel export terminals in Brazil.
In a framework for Brazilian port industry, the Port of Pecém, located in the state of Ceará, successfully completed the largest steel slab operation in its history. Last Tuesday (01/08), more than 72 thousand tons of slabs were shipped in a single ship, consolidating the terminal as one of the most dynamic and effective in the country. The slabs were produced at the ArcelorMittal Pecém steel plant, located in the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) of Ceará, and the shipment was destined for the Port of Houston, in the United States. The operation was carried out on the ship Yasa Ruby and involved the movement of 2.487 plates.
Investments in infrastructure and logistics boost the performance of the Port of Pecém
The success of this operation is a testament to the competence and ability of the Port of Pecém to handle large volumes and heavy loads.
Roberto de Castro, director of Operations for Complexo do Pecém, highlighted the importance of this achievement, which reinforces the position of the port for future business opportunities in the State of Ceará.

The modern infrastructure and the highly qualified operational team enabled the success of the operation, in addition to the use of state-of-the-art equipment.
A notable aspect of this operation was the use of mixed modality during the loading of steel slabs.
In addition to the traditional wooden support, electromagnets were used to speed up the process.
José Alcântara, manager of Port Operations at the Pecém Complex, explained that the use of electromagnets significantly improved the productivity of the operation, especially when dealing with heavier slabs, and also made it possible to eliminate the need to use wood for stowing cargo.
This record is of great relevance, as the increase in the amount of cargo shipped per ship also contributes to improving the port's performance, enabling the handling of larger capacity vessels.
Currently, steel plates are the main product exported by the Port of Pecém, representing an important link to the local and national economy.
Terminal from Ceará consolidates its position as one of the most dynamic ports in Brazil
The steel slabs produced in the Ceará EPZ are sent to more than 20 countries around the world, and the Pecém port complex has already handled more than 1,46 million tons of these slabs in the first half of this year alone.
This export sector is strategic for Brazil, and the Port of Pecém continues to demonstrate its relevance on the international scene, with high standard operations that solidify it as one of the main ports in the country.
The successful shipment of steel plates on the Yasa Ruby ship is an example of the synergy between the steel industry and the Brazilian port sector, strengthening foreign trade and contributing to the national economy.
The Port of Pecém reaffirms its position as a reference in port logistics, stimulating regional growth and opening the way for new business opportunities in the future.
