The partnership established between the companies Porto do Açu Operations and Norsul enables the maritime transport of cargo in the "short distance" mode between ports in the Southeast
Companhia de Navegação Norsul and Porto do Açu Operations started operating a new short-distance shipping service for containers and project cargo between Brazilian ports in the Southeast of the country, which promises to integrate the region with regional and international trade routes. The information was given by Porto do Açu yesterday (15), through its official communication networks.

The established partnership is to integrate services in the “short distance” and cabotage modality between the ports of Rio and Açu. The shipping and logistics company transported 23 TechnipFMC containers on the stretch via sea convoy.
The cabotage service, in the short-distance mode, will have the capacity to transport up to 350 units per stretch, in addition to bringing sustainable value to operations with a significant reduction in the emission of pollutants into the environment.

“The operation demonstrates Açu's high potential as a port hub. This is the kickoff for consolidating the enterprise as an option for incoming and outgoing cargo, at the regional and global levels”, said the Director of Terminals at Porto do Açu Operations, João Braz.
Partnership between Porto do Açu and Norsul was signed in March this year
In March 2020, the companies signed the contract to offer these services in national waters. The partnership makes short-distance shipping of units and project loads between the Southeast feasible, establishing an integrated network between the companies in Norte Fluminense, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, through the Port of Açu Multicargo Terminal (T-MULT).
The perspective is that the use of ocean convoys will make it possible to reduce the costs of logistics and road traffic, offering greater safety and predictability, as well as sustainability. The transport service will have a capacity of up to 350 units per leg, with regular departures, able to meet regional demands and long-haul routes.
Maritime service is an attractive and competitive logistics alternative
“This agreement highlights our vision of the “feeder” service as a necessary and complementary instrument for the great Brazilian cabotage, mainly due to its magnitude and distances. Like Açu, we are going to prove the value of this competitive and attractive logistics alternative for clients from different segments”, informed Marcelo Bacellar, Commercial and Marketing director at norsul.
Operating since 2014, Porto do Açu already handles cargo such as solid bulk, general cargo, iron ore and oil. It has a strategic location in São João da Barra-RJ, containing 9 terminals, divided into offshore and onshore areas.
