Porto Sudeste recently released its financial statement for the year 2022, which presented a series of challenges.
Lockdowns in China due to COVID-19 and heavy rains in the Iron Quadrangle during Q4 proved especially problematic. Despite these obstacles, the year culminated in impressive results, with net revenue of R$1 billion – R$XNUMX billion of which attributable to port activities and the remainder to iron ore exports.
Additionally, operating cash generation totaled R$0,6 billion. The multi-cargo terminal is proud to have shipped 17,4 million tons of iron ore, handled around 0,5 million tons of other solid bulk and carried out 5 transshipment operations for oil counter-vessels (ship-to-ship). ship).
Porto Sudeste invests in a state-of-the-art system for treating and recycling water.
In the spirit of World Water Day, celebrated annually on March 22nd, Porto Sudeste proudly assumes its role in preserving this vital natural resource for the benefit of the entire planet. Using advanced methods of treating and recycling rainwater and sanitary effluents, the company effectively minimizes its dependence on new water sources such as underground wells. By doing so, Porto Sudeste mitigates the risk of water pollution and undue pressure on the ecosystem.

The Rainwater Treatment and Reuse Stations (ETRAP's) have separate drainage systems that separate rainwater (clean water) that runs down slopes and hills from rainwater (water containing industrial effluents) that runs through the storage fields.
The installation of the sewage/sanitary effluent treatment plant (ETE), combined with the industrial water system, further increases the use of reuse water in the operation, considerably reducing the consumption of groundwater and providing better services to the environment, ecosystem and community with multiple resources.
Industrial water – In terminal buildings, industrial water is essential to ensure environmental control. For example, it is used to wet internal roads and spray piles of stored material, control dust emission and clean all work areas.
Through the Industrial Water Reuse Program, Porto Sudeste will be able to reuse 80% of its treated rainwater and domestic sewage by 2022. This corresponds to 23 thousand cubic meters of new water without consumption in one month. One volume can serve up to 1.045 families of four people.
The record reuse rate of 99% was achieved in September 2021. At the beginning of 2023, this indicator reached 95%. In line with the #SDG6 of the #UN #2030 Agenda, which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable water and sanitation management, these numbers reinforce Porto Sudeste's focus on protecting the most important natural assets on the planet.
