The Postal Service union is outraged by the announcement of 3.468 vacancies in the Postal Service competition, claiming that the number is insufficient to cover the huge employee deficit. Check out the details of the controversy

After more than a decade of waiting, the Post Office finally announced the holding of a new public tender, with the definition of the Brazilian Institute of Training and Qualification (IBFC) as the organizing committee. The competition provides for the offer of 3.468 vacancies, 3.099 of which are for mid-level positions and 369 for higher-level positions, with salaries that can reach up to R$6,8. Despite the importance of the announcement, the Interstate Federation of Postal Workers' Unions (FINDECT) expressed dissatisfaction with the number of vacancies offered. According to the union, the total number of positions is not enough to cover the large labor deficit that the company is facing, accumulated over 13 years without holding public tenders.

Distrust among workers

In a statement released this Thursday (12), FINDECT also criticized the delay in the announcement of the competition. During this period, postal workers dealt with an overload of work, resulting from the lack of replacement of employees, which led to precarious working conditions and growing distrust in relation to the company's commitments.

The promise of new hires was one of the central agendas of the 2023 Collective Labor Agreement. However, the late announcement of the organizing committee and the number of vacancies made available have put the category on alert. For workers, the scenario generates uncertainty about the actual implementation of the hiring promised for December 2024.

FINDECT warns of the need to rebuild the framework

The Post Office has been facing a significant staff shortage since the last competition, held in 2011. The union warns that the number of vacancies announced will not be enough to cover this gap, which could further harm the quality of services provided to the population, in addition to overloading the workers who remain active.

FINDECT emphasizes that restructuring the workforce is essential not only to improve working conditions, but also to ensure the company's operational efficiency. With the removal of Correios from the privatization list by the current government, the expectation is that the company will invest in long-term solutions to strengthen its services and meet society's demands.

However, the category remains cautious. The history of unfulfilled promises and inconsistencies in the negotiations of the 2023 collective agreement reinforce the feeling of distrust among workers. FINDECT and affiliated unions remain vigilant, demanding that the company fulfill its commitments and increase the number of vacancies to ensure an adequate workforce.

The fight for a robust public tender, which meets the real needs of the company and its workers, continues to be one of the union's main causes.

What do postal workers do?

Postal workers are responsible for collecting, sorting, transporting and delivering mail and parcels, connecting people and businesses across all regions.

In addition, they perform administrative tasks, such as customer service in branches, processing payments and providing information about available services, demonstrating a dedication that goes beyond the simple act of delivery.
