The president of Petrobras explains that by maintaining prices, the import of fuel would be made more difficult, and consequently would lead to a shortage of the market, since this is not supplied only by Petrobras
In an event promoted by the foreign bank Credit Suisse on February 3, the president of Petrobras defends that the state company continues with the market price policy for fuels. According to the president, Petrobras is looking for other ways that do not involve holding fuel prices, as Petrobras legally must exercise the market price on top of fuels, as private companies behave.

Silva e Luna, president of Petrobras, said that the company is aware of the damage involved in trying to maintain the cost of fuel artificially. The president claims that Petrobras will lose several investments and fuel imports. According to the president, it will not be possible to supply this market if fuel prices are not competitive.
In addition, the president said that Petrobras management is making an effort to prevent the instability of the international parity policy from immediately affecting the consumer.

“We expect movements that become more structural. We ended up staying 90 or 70 days without changing prices. This demonstrates that Petrobras manages to keep up with parity, keep the market supplied and provide opportunities for other importers to participate in supplying the market, in addition to keeping the price competitive”, said the president.
Petrobras' concern to reduce carbon emissions
According to CNN, still at the bank's event, the president of Petrobras spoke about the company's plans to reduce carbon emissions in the production of fuels, in addition to investing in the production of sustainable energy.
The president added that an investment committee was created to research new ways to invest in other options. He said there are several factors that need to go through the committee for the company to move in that direction. The president explained that the company had not yet found any type of energy that is part of this and that Petrobras' focus is currently on the best production with the lowest level of carbon production. He informs that Petrobras is aware that this process will continue, but that the company believes that oil will continue to be a source of energy for a long time and that for that it is necessary for Petrobras to be able to produce the lowest possible carbon index at a resistant price.
Petrobras profits
According to g1, in the second quarter of last year Petrobras profited R$ 42,855 billion and in the third quarter the profit was R$ 31,142 billion. Due to this result, it was possible to end the loss of BRL 1,5 billion recorded at the same time in 2021.

Petrobras informed in a material fact to the market, last Tuesday (01/02/2022), that it received from the multinational Equinor the amount of 475 million dollars (almost R$ 3 billion), equivalent to half of the third installment referring to the sale of its participation in the exploratory oil block BM-S-8, where the Bacalhau field (formerly Carcará area) is located, in the Santos basin.
