The beginning of the works is scheduled for the beginning of next year and its completion is scheduled for 2023. During this time, numerous jobs will be generated, directly and indirectly, to meet the needs of the works.
Operations at the wind farms are scheduled for 2022. Each complex will have five wind farms located in the Serra do Inácio region, between the states of Piauí and Pernambuco. Together, the two complexes will have a combined installed capacity of 411,6 MW.
According to the CEO of Votorantim Energia and the chairman of the board of the joint venture, Fábio Zanfelice, “Together with the wind farms Ventos do Piauí I and Ventos do Araripe III, these projects will form the largest wind generation cluster in Brazil. The Joint Venture will be responsible for 5% of the country's wind generation base and 36% of the wind generation base in Piauí. There will be 976,2 MW of installed generation capacity, 745,2 MW in that state and 231,0 MW in Pernambuco“.
However, 60% of the capacity of the complexes has already been contracted by Votorantim Cimentos and by Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio, CBA. The remainder will be sold on the free market.
