According to the president of the electric tricycle manufacturer RadTrike, the aim is to make transport as efficient and accessible as possible.
A Rad Power Bikes, an American company that manufactures electric bikes, has just launched its newest electric tricycle. Called RadTrike, the vehicle comes with the claim that it will be one of the most affordable options in its market, at least in the foreign market.
Electric tricycle can be folded for easy storage and costs US$2.499, which is equivalent to around R$13.000 at current exchange rates. While that might seem like a lot, the reality is that it's almost half the value of other similar electric tricycles.
According to the site ELECTrek, the price of a latest generation electric tricycle, from other manufacturers, can reach more than US$ 8.000, that is, exceeding 40 thousand reais.

The RadTrike electric tricycle's goal is to make commuting more efficient, enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
In the words of Mike Radenbaugh, founder and president of Rad Power Bikes, the goal of the RadTrike electric tricycle is to make commuting more efficient, enjoyable and accessible for everyone. Sarah Bruce Courtney, the company's senior product manager, says the RadTrike was designed with comfort and stability in mind. Designed for those people who simply haven't ridden a bike in a while, who struggle with balance or mobility issues.
The model also adapts to the speed the driver wants, providing the same with five different levels of pedal assistance and throttle control. For example, the first level moves at a similar pace to walking.
The added weight results in a top speed of just 22 kilometers per hour, slightly lower than other electric tricycles. The combination of the wider design and smaller 18-inch wheel size serves another function, producing a lower center of gravity and increasing vehicle stability.
In addition to its main purpose, the electric tricycle by Rad Power Bikes it has a number of other potential applications, including delivery work. Buyers will have the option of purchasing two storage baskets, one to be installed on the front and one to be installed on the back of the product. Learn more in the video:
The electric tricycle has a 48V battery that provides a potential range of up to 56 kilometers
The 750 watt electric motor can be found mounted on the front wheel of the RadTrike electric tricycle. Plus, there's a parking brake installed so it won't roll downhill if left parked on an incline.
The 48V, 10,4 Ah battery can be removed and placed in a storage compartment located on the chassis of the electric tricycle. The vehicle has a potential range of up to 56 kilometers.
Rad Power Bikes claims that the RadTrike is suitable for “smoother paths”, because of the absence of a suspension system on the vehicle. This is not an off-road electric tricycle for any bumpy stretch, instead it is optimized for city riding.
Cargo capacity is 188 kilograms, which is enough to accommodate an adult along with their luggage. The RadTrike electric tricycle will start to be delivered to customers from January 2023 in the United States. So far, there is no evidence to suggest the launch of the product in other countries.
