With zero carbon emissions, the largest network of parts for agricultural and heavy machinery in the country should spend 30% less on a new electric vehicle
14 July 2022 - Committed to reducing the emission of polluting gases in its operational structure and following the plan to advance the ESG agenda, Rech, the largest network of parts for agricultural and heavy machinery in the country, invests in its first 100% electric truck. The company starts operating with the new transport in the first half of August and will distribute the products from its distribution center in Hidrolândia to all its units and customers in Goiânia. The electric truck has autonomy to run up to 250 kilometers per day.
According to Fleiron Nazareno da Silva, director of Supply at Rech, while a diesel vehicle can emit more than a thousand tons of carbon per year, the company's new investment will eliminate gas emissions. “Another point to be highlighted is the lower cost. Due to instability in the price of diesel – which represents 40% of transportation costs, savings will be significant in the medium and long term for our logistics. The company should spend 30% less on the electric truck”, he celebrates.
In addition to the lower environmental impact, which is the fundamental point in the process, the truck has high technology, fast battery charging and also a tracker, which contributes to the safety of the load and the vehicle itself. The efficiency of the engines also became a highlight. The company's transport manager, André Carvalho, points out that the truck uses engine friction to produce electricity. “In this way, the batteries are constantly recharged, which contributes to energy efficiency”, he analyzes.

The new project is part of a broader approach by the company, which already has a very well-structured sustainability program. Linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Agenda 2030, the program achieves 11 of the 17 SDGs within 5 pillars: Clients, Workers, Governance, Community and Environment.
To strengthen Rech's commitment to the environment, for the year 2022 the company intends to move forward with other projects. The network plans to transfer transport logistics from other distribution centers and units to suppliers that are committed to neutralizing the emission of carbon emitted, in addition to operating electric forklifts in their DCs, purchasing reuse cardboard and using renewable energy. in its own units in Mato Grosso.
Rech also celebrates the external recognition of its actions. In early 2022, the company won, in the first year of the assessment, the Bronze Ecovadis seal for sustainability, one of the most important and reliable global assessment certifications in corporate sustainability, and adherence to the United Nations Global Compact.
