Recognition comes from the international consultancy Great PlaceToWork, which supports companies engaged in valuing people at the center of their business strategies.

Salvador, February 22, 2021 – The Appian Brazil group, the controlling fund of the mining company Atlantic Nickel, was recognized as a Excellent Company to Work For, winning international certification from the consultancy Great Place To Work. The certification extends to Atlantic Nickel, a nickel concentrate producer located in Itagibá (BA), and to Mineração Vale Verde, a copper concentrate producer located in Craíbas (AL).

The news of this recognition is received with a sense of pride by the professionals who make the Atlantic Nickel business happen on a daily basis without losing sight of its values, which result in healthy, fair management practices and equal opportunities.

O Great Place to Work is an international consultancy that supports and recognizes organizations that place valuing people at the center of their business strategies. The certification of having an excellent work environment is granted after carrying out a confidential survey with the company's employees for 15 days, following careful procedures so that the worker feels completely free to express an opinion about the work environment.

Atlantic Nickel is experiencing this moment with celebration for being faced with another important achievement, and highlights the thanks to a team, which with great talent and dedication, builds a solid, welcoming and sustainable company.

About Atlantic Nickel

Controlled by the Appian Capital Brazil group and the only company producing sulphide nickel in the country, Atlantic Nickel completed, on October 15, 2020, one year of operation in Itagibá, in the interior of Bahia, where it has been operating in the extraction of the fundamental ore for the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries. There are more than 1.700 direct jobs generated by the business and R$ 151 million injected into purchases and contracts with suppliers in Bahia from 2018 to 2020.

The company's projection is to double its production capacity, with the start of underground mining operations at Santa Rita Mine, scheduled for 2028, which will increase the mine's useful life from eight to 34 years (8 years of open pit mine open + 26 years of underground mine). According to the Preliminary Economic Assessment, around US$ 355 million should be invested in the first five years of this new phase.

In addition, Atlantic Nickel is already celebrating the recent discovery of a new deposit with significant potential for nickel resources just 26km away, and in the same geological belt, where the Santa Rita Mine already operates. The proximity of this new area to the infrastructure in operation, added to the viability of logistical integration, point to the success of the expansion studies.
