Eduardo Saverin, the richest Brazilian in the world, triples his fortune with the success of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and other social networks

Eduardo Saverin, one of the co-founders of Facebook, became the richest Brazilian in the world, according to list of billionaires 2024 published by Forbes. With an estimated net worth of US$28 billion (R$141,4 billion), Saverin occupies the 60th position among the richest men on the planet. Your fortune almost tripled from 2023 to 2024, driven by stock appreciation from Meta, the company that owns Facebook and other popular platforms such as Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads.

Born in São Paulo in 1982, Eduardo Saverin moved with his family to Miami, USA, at the age of 11. He graduated in Economics from Harvard University, where he became involved in the Thefacebook project, alongside Mark Zuckerberg and others, in 2004. Thefacebook, which began as a social network exclusively for Harvard students, soon expanded to become Facebook that we know today.

Conflicts and renunciation of American citizenship

However, the partnership with Zuckerberg was not without conflicts. Eduardo Saverin and the other partners fell out over the future of Facebook, leading to mutual accusations. Eduardo Saverin even sued Zuckerberg, resulting in an out-of-court settlement. In 2009, Eduardo Saverin immigrated to Singapore and renounced his citizenship American in 2011, just before Facebook's IPO, saving millions in taxes and generating controversy in the media.

In 2015, Saverin married Elaine Andriejanssen, with whom he had a son in 2018, seeking to keep his private life out of the spotlight. He founded B Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in businesses in Southeast Asia and India, and also invested in Antler, a startup accelerator. Recently, B Capital participated in a US$320 million investment in Lambda, a cloud computing and AI company.

Look for another example of Brazilian potential, he was only born in Brazil, his parents emigrated to Brazil where they were unsuccessful and decided to go to the USA, as the article itself states, now he is a citizen of Singapore, I would like to know how much he invests in Brazil and how much he invests in Singapore
