Rio de Janeiro will break a record in oil royalties this year, the estimate is that the state will receive between R$ 14 billion and R$ 16 billion
Good news for Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the fact that the old glamor of the city is returning, FIRJAN released this Wednesday, August 7, an estimate that the state will receive between R$ 14 billion and R$ 16 billion in royalties and special appearances in 2019 – an increase of around 10% compared to 2018.
Rio's economy should pick up steam in terms of revenue this year thanks to recent projects contracted in the oil and gas exploration and production area.

Specialists from the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro estimate an even greater growth in the collection of royalties and special participations.
For the 2nd half of this year alone, the 16th Bidding Round, the 6th Production Sharing Round (pre-salt) and the auction of the transfer of rights surplus are planned, all with areas offered on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
The organization predicts that Rio de Janeiro should be the state most benefited by new investments, especially in job creation.
Firjan informs that by 2027 the number of vacancies in the operation and maintenance of stationary oil and gas production units could reach 516 thousand, today there are 5,2 thousand employees.
“All that Rio has suffered in the oil and gas sector in recent years, and which has been reflected in public revenue, should no longer be felt if these resources are well spent,” said Firjan’s Oil, Gas and Naval manager, Karine Fragoso.
firjan states in a statement that the Onerous Assignment “is considered the most important bid in the world in recent times, and should provide for the payment of a signing bonus of tens of billions of reais”.
516 jobs will be generated by 2027
In 2018, Rio de Janeiro had around 5,2 employees in the operation and maintenance of stationary oil and gas production units. Calculations made by Firjan indicate that, in 2027, this number will reach 516 thousand.
According to Firjan, it is estimated that for every US$ 1 billion invested in the oil and gas sector, around 25 jobs are generated and that the platform requires 300 direct workers and another 600 indirect ones.
600 jobs will be created with the construction of the Ambev factory in Minas Gerais
