The ships will remain at the Rio Grande Shipyard for approximately 20 days
This weekend, the Rio Grande Shipyard, of the Ecovix group, received three new ships in its dock for maintenance and repairs. The repairs are expected to last approximately 20 days, and docking, treatment, painting, mechanical and boilermaking services are included. “The Ecovix Group takes another step towards consolidating the recovery of its activities”, announced the company.
As disclosed by Portos e Navios, around 150 new jobs will be created in Rio Grande (RS) as a result of receiving ships. This is due to repair services and the hiring of local labor, not to mention the movement of the hotel and food chain with the arrival of specialists from the vessels, who come from other parts of the country or abroad.
Ship maintenance services will be carried out in partnership with DockBrasil
At the Rio Grande Shipyard, vessel maintenance services will be carried out in partnership with dockbrasil, who has already worked with Ecovix on other repairs at the shipyard. The ships are the Argentine “Cabo Pilar”, Antares Naviera oil tanker, and two fishing vessels: the Chinese “LQVY 279”, from Quing Dao Yang Ocean Fishery, and the Spanish “Jose Antonio Nores”, from the Nores group.

During the week in which the ships were received at the Rio Grande Shipyard, Ecovix also celebrated a significant advance in its judicial recovery process. Still according to Portos e Navios, the company settled credits with 130 class IV companies, which is formed by micro and small companies. To complete, the credits with real guarantee (class II) have already been paid and the obligations with the other classes are up to date.
Big steps taken by Ecovix in the last five years
The company's judicial recovery plan, approved on January 23, received an amendment approved by the 2nd Civil Court of Rio Grande on March 8. “These are important milestones for the implementation of our business plan, within our commitment to the development of the Southern region. We have carried out naval and port repair activities and we are confident in the gradual resumption of shipbuilding”, highlights the general director of Ecovix, Robson Passos.
Laurence Medeiros, from Medeiros Administração Judicial, emphasizes the importance and difficulty of the process. “These are great steps that have been taken over the last five years, since the approval of the judicial reorganization plan. This brings legal certainty to the company, creditors and all the work of resuming naval activities”, concludes the lawyer.
