Detroit Shipyard Completes Series of 8 Tugs for Starnav

The Detroit shipyard in RS is delivering the last tug of the series to Starnav Serviços Marítimos; the 8th tug of 80ton. from 'bollard pull'

The tugboat “Starnav Alpha” was delivered yesterday (30) to Starnav, the vessel will operate in the Port of Rio Grande (RS). Amid the pandemic, licensing of up to 17 oil wells advances by ExxonMobil, in the Campos and Santos basins

This is the eighth and last unit in the series of azimuth tugs of the "escort tug" type, 80 tons of "bollard pull", built by the Detroit shipyard in Itajaí (SC).

The tug draws attention for its power and also stands out for its high level of automation (ABCU – Automatic Bridge Centralized Control Unmanned), FIFI 1 external firefighting system, render-recovery bow winch and GMDSS A3 radio communication system .

The dimensions of the series are 32 meters long, 11.6 meters beam, 5.43 meters deep and 4.10 meters draft. Maximum speed of 12.5 knots.

Starnav Alpha is the eighth tug delivered by the Detroit shipyard. The eight Starnav series tugboats were financed by the Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) at a cost of US$ 80 million and built by the Detroit shipyard in Itajaí (SC), with BNDES as the financial agent.

With the delivery of Starnav Alpha, Starnav reaches the number of 30 tugboats with azimuthal technology in partnership with Camorim.

Justice prohibits concessionaires from cutting electricity and water at the Mauá Shipyard

The decision was issued by Judge Alexandre de Carvalho Mesquita, from the 1st Corporate Court of the Court of Justice of Rio
