Get ready for a revelation that could transform Brazil's infrastructure and boost Mato Grosso's economy! Last Thursday (23), a crucial agreement between Rumo Logística and the Mato Grosso Court of Auditors (TCE) was reached and promises to change the future of the Senador Vicente Emílio Vuolo Railway.

According to the TCE-MT, the agreement will allow the railway to extend to Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso. The president of the TCE, Sérgio Ricardo, emphasized the importance of this branch for the city, highlighting that the presence of the railway will bring enormous benefits not only to the capital, but to the entire state and Brazil. “Cuiabá needs this branch, which will greatly benefit the whole of Mato Grosso and the whole of Brazil”, stated Ricardo.

Project Details

Rumo Logística committed to presenting the complete railway project, including the section that connects to Cuiabá, by October 2024.

Rodrigo Verardino de Stéfani, institutional relations manager at Rumo, guaranteed that the tracks will reach the capital by the end of 2026.

To make the project viable, the company is asking the State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Logistics for a declaration of public activity, essential for the studies and preparations necessary along the future route.

Economic and environmental impacts

The investment in the railway will be R$15 billion, with the construction of 743 kilometers of tracks, including 22 bridges, 21 viaducts and 5 underpasses.

According to Rumo, This project will not only reduce road distances, but will also have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional modes.

The work, as already published by the CPG previously, promises to generate up to 162 thousand jobs e will significantly reduce the logistics cost of Mato Grosso's main commodities, such as soybeans, corn and cotton.

Repercussions and benefits

The Senador Vicente Emílio Vuolo Railway project is a 100% private venture that should boost the economic growth of Mato Grosso and Brazil as a whole.

With the construction of the railway, Rumo Logística aims to improve the efficiency of freight transport, which will be crucial for the flow of the state’s agricultural production.

The future of the railway

Although the agreement has reactivated the works, the community continues to pay attention to the next steps and the execution of the project.

Continuous supervision and commitments made by the parties involved will ensure that Ferrovia Senador Vicente Emílio Vuolo meets the promised development and growth expectations.

This is a sensible decision! We need railways running all over Brazil. It saves money, improves the air and could include passenger cars. Sensational. The world has been doing this for a long time!

I want to see what obstacle they will find to stop the works again.
