If you are thinking about working in factories in Portugal If you want to know how much you can really earn, you've come to the right place. Let's explore the salary in Portugal for factory workers, including how much you can earn with overtime and benefits.

Stay until the end, because we have some super interesting personal news to share! Let's get straight to the point and check out the details of how much you can expect to earn when working in a factory in Portugal.

SALARY IN PORTUGAL

When you start working in a factory in Portugal, the starting salary is usually the minimum wage, which is currently 820 euros per month. This amount can increase if you have specific qualifications, such as being a welder or electrician, but let's focus on the base salary for unskilled roles.

In addition to the salary, you also receive a food allowance, which is 7,50 euros per day. Working 22 working days a month adds around 165 euros to your salary.

Extra hour

The part that can really increase your income is overtime. In many factories, you can work on Saturdays, and overtime is paid double. A working Saturday, which is usually 6 hours, can earn you 51 euros, plus a food bonus of 7,50 euros, making a total of 58,50 euros per Saturday.

Another interesting benefit is the attendance bonus. If you don't miss a day and work at least two Saturdays a month, you get a bonus of 50 euros.

Practical example

Let's do the math to see how much you can earn in a typical month. Considering the base salary, the food allowance, two Saturdays of overtime and the attendance bonus, we have:

  • Base salary: 820 euros
  • Food allowance: 165 euros
  • Two Saturdays of overtime: 117 euros
  • Attendance bonus: 50 euros

Total: 1152 euros

Daily overtime

If you decide to work overtime during the week, say two hours a day, this can increase your income even further. There are 44 extra hours per month (22 days x 2 hours), at 8,50 euros per hour, resulting in an additional 374 euros.

Total with daily overtime: 1526 euros

Of course, from this gross amount, there are discounts for Social Security and IRS (income tax). The discount rate varies depending on your personal situation, such as whether you have children or not. On average, you can expect to take home around 1000 euros after discounts.

Working in factories in Portugal It can be a great way to secure a good salary, especially if you take advantage of overtime and benefits opportunities. Although taxes may seem high, it is still possible to earn a significant income.
