Sale of Petrobras oil hub in northern ES is concluded with Norwegian Group

Petrobras concluded the sale of the oil complex, in the north of Espírito Santo, to a subsidiary of the Norwegian group Seacrest Bermuda Limited, receiving an immediate payment of US$ 426,65 million.

The pole comprises a set of four concessions of onshore oil and gas production fields located in Holy Spirit Basin, in the municipalities of Linhares, Jaguaré and São Mateus. In addition to the fields, the sale of the oil complex included Terminal Norte Capixaba and oil and gas transport pipelines.

Reasons for selling the oil hub

The sale is part of Petrobras strategy to concentrate its resources on assets in deep and ultra-deep waters. With the sale, Seacrest assumes the position of operator of the fields of the North Pole Capixaba and other production infrastructure. A Petrobras continues to be responsible for managing other operations in the State, such as the natural gas processing units in Cacimbas and Sul Capixaba and the Barra do Riacho Waterway Terminal.

Sale and Asset Details

The amount received by Petrobras is added to the amount of US$ 35,85 million paid when the sale was signed in February 2022. In addition to this amount, it is expected that the Petrobras, of up to US$ 66 million in contingent payments, depending on future quotations for Brent oil. The Capixaba North Pole accounted for 3,3% of its production in Espírito Santo, and the sale does not impact the state-owned company's other activities in the region, where it maintains operations in important fields in deep waters, with emphasis on Parque das Baleias, in addition to seven exploratory areas.

The hub comprises four onshore field concessions:

  • Cancã and Fazendas Alegre, the largest onshore oil field in the state;
  • Saint Raphael; It is
  • Santa Luzia.

The pole also comprises the Terminal Norte Capixaba (TNC), which is made up of five tanks for receiving oil and condensate with operational measurement in line at its entrance and infrastructure for receiving by trucks.

A average production of the North Pole Capixaba in the 1st quarter of 2023 it was approximately 4,6 thousand barrels of oil per day and 21,8 thousand m³/day of natural gas. In all, the center has 269 wells in operation, three oil treatment stations, four satellite stations in the Fazenda Alegre field and 73,81 km of gas and oil pipelines.

With the sale completed, the Petrobras disposed of assets considered less strategic in pursuit of greater operational and financial efficiency. Seacrest, in turn, expands its presence in the Brazilian oil and gas market with the acquisition of North Pole Capixaba, a set of four onshore oil and gas production field concessions located in the Espírito Santo Basin.
