From Sapura to Seagems: the transformation of the leader in subsea engineering
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Sapura, renowned for its expertise in subsea engineering, adopts a new name: Seagems. This move, in line with its history of innovation, symbolizes a new era for the company that is ready to expand its scope in the oil and gas sector. Located in Rio de Janeiro, Seagems reflects its new name inspired by the names of its six vessels: Diamante, Topázio, Ônix, Jade, Esmeralda and Rubi, representing the company's valuable fleet and team.
“The transition to Seagems is not just a name change, it is an evolution of our identity that reinforces our mission to deliver innovative solutions with meaning and quality. Our team, true jewels of our operation, is the great inspiration behind this new chapter,” explains Rogerio Salbego, CEO of Seagems.
The new organizational structure
Seagems will continue to offer high-quality subsea engineering services, but under a new structure divided into Seagems Offshore and Seagems Solutions. This reorganization seeks to optimize operational efficiency, allowing greater flexibility and expansion capacity for new markets and subsea projects, meeting the needs of shareholders, customers and partners.

“We are expanding our operations to international waters and adopting an asset-light business model, using third-party vessels for specific operations. This strategy allows us to maximize our expertise while maintaining our operational agility,” details Salbego.
Maintaining excellence and innovation
Despite the name change, Seagems' internal routine will maintain its essence with a smooth transition, ensuring the continuity of benefits for employees and maintaining the same relationship of trust with partners and customers.
Seagems is proud of its modern fleet consisting of six vessels, each equipped to carry out complex subsea construction operations. With 36% of the national market in subsea pipeline interconnection and maintenance projects, the company maintains an exemplary performance, with 97,6% uptime since the beginning of its operations in 2014.
Training and sustainability at Seagems
With a team of more than 1000 professionals, Seagems not only leads in operations, but also in talent development. Around 45% of offshore professionals were trained internally, and more than 2000 employees were trained at the SEA Training Center – Seagems Excellence Academy.
“Our ongoing investments in training and development are critical to the sustainability of our operations and the safety of our employees. We are always looking to raise our governance and reporting standards, aligning our operations with the most advanced sustainability practices,” emphasizes Salbego.
Leadership and technological innovation
Seagems stands out not only for its operational capacity, but also for pioneering several techniques and technologies in the oil and gas sector. The company was the first to install a Wet Christmas Tree in deep water using a PLSV vessel and continues to innovate with projects that cross technological and operational boundaries.
With an ongoing commitment to excellence and a clear vision for the future, Seagems reaffirms its place at the forefront of the oil and gas industry, ready to face the challenges of tomorrow and continue to deliver exceptional results.
