With the launch of the Celular Seguro app, the Government aims to strengthen security and inhibit the illegal market for stolen cell phones in Brazil.

The Brazilian government is about to launch an innovative initiative to combat crime: an application designed to block stolen cell phones. Safe cell phone, as called, aims not only to guarantee the safety of citizens, but also to combat the illegal mobile device market, a growing concern in the country. The announcement of the proposal represents a significant step towards protecting users against theft and misuse of their devices.

Federal Government launches application to reduce the number of stolen cell phones in Brazil

The application, currently in the development phase, will have as its main function blocking cell phones that have been reported stolen, making them unusable for offenders.

This measure aims not only at user safety, but also at reducing mobile device theft rates, directly impacting the criminal activity associated with these cases.

In addition to effective blocking, the application will offer features for tracking and recovering lost devices, providing users with effective means of dealing with theft situations.

The expectation is that this hardware contribute significantly to reducing the illegal trade in stolen cell phones, discouraging the activities of criminal networks specialized in this type of activity.

The “Celular Seguro” app should be launched soon

However, as highlighted by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the use of Secure Cell Phones does not replace the user's direct communication with banks, telephone operators and online platforms.

Furthermore, the importance of registering incidents with the police authority is emphasized, ensuring a comprehensive approach to resolving cases of robberies and theft of mobile devices.

The application is expected to be released this Tuesday (19) for Android, IOS and computers, after successful completion of the necessary tests and adjustments.
