New digital strategies aim to reduce 5% of emissions in the Brazilian pre-salt
Committed to revolutionizing energy efficiency and combating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the Digital Shape established a strategic alliance with TotalEnergies EP Brasil. The focus is the installation of the innovative digital platform, Shape Aura, designed to maximize energy optimization and minimize emissions.
At this start, the forecast is that the initial module of the solution, focused on the gas compression system, will be able to reduce global emissions from the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba production unit by around 5%. This unit operates in the renowned Lapa field, located in the Santos Basin in the Brazilian pre-salt. It is worth noting that the Lapa field is a joint operation, with TotalEnergies EP Brasil holding 45%, Repsol Sinopec Brasil with 25% and Shell Brasil with the remaining 30%.
The digital revolution in energy efficiency
- Brazilians create robot capable of planting 1.800 trees per hour
- NASA knows that nuclear rockets can take humans to Mars in half the time, but the use of Uranium used in World War II is still controversial
- A team of researchers from Saudi Arabia has developed an innovative system that can extract water from the air using only gravity, without relying on electricity or expensive energy sources.
- For the first time, NASA scientists detect an invisible electric field around the Earth
Jean-Baptiste Dupuy, who leads Operated Assets at TotalEnergies EP Brasil, emphasizes: “This digital solution will be a valuable reinforcement for the design changes we are introducing, aiming to cut CO2 emissions from this field. This is perfectly aligned with our global goal of reducing Scope 40 and 1 emissions at our facilities by more than 2% by 2030.”
The Shape Aura platform is a jewel of modern technology, incorporating Shape's “Virtual Engineer”. This approach combines the best of traditional engineering with Artificial Intelligence, optimizing and automating technical decisions essential for industrial operations and maintenance. This cutting-edge solution not only enables real-time data capture and analysis but also the generation of optimal recommendations, managed implementation of these suggestions and constant monitoring of their impact on efficiency and emissions. And the most revolutionary thing: it will be directly handled by the offshore O&M team. This facilitates faster response and relentless optimization, keeping all stakeholders informed.
Felipe Baldissera, VP of Energy at Digital Shape, has a clear vision of the future: “Shape has always sought to develop digital solutions that reduce costs, maximize efficiency and guarantee security. With Shape Aura, we are channeling our software, AI and industry expertise to deliver sustainability-driven solutions. In an era where decarbonization is crucial, “CAPEX-Free” digital tools, with low costs and rapid implementation, are vital to accelerate this process, especially in the oil and gas sector.”
