The generator is nothing like a fan, and works by swinging from side to side.

The Spanish startup Vortex Bladeless innovated by creating a totally unusual wind power generator. called from vortex, the model is nothing like a fan, as we are used to seeing it, but it is a cylinder with no propeller attached. The device works with swings horizontally, as the wind passes through it. Vibrations are generated by this movement, and energy production begins.

Vortex tests reveal cheaper energy generation

According to Vortex itself, the first tests carried out with the device revealed a 30% cheaper power generation. This is because, to create energy from propeller wind turbines, the costs of installation and maintenance are larger than with the Vortez prototype.

Furthermore, the technology used in the new generator is capable of take advantage of locations where wind generation is lower. Meanwhile, conventional generators need a minimum speed for their propellers to have enough movement and be able to generate energy.

Wind power generator without propellers does not threaten the life of birds

The bladeless turbines of the apparatus do not threaten the lives of birds that fly around the region, and are also quieter, which causes the reduction of noise pollution. Vortex has dubbed its generator the “wind power pole”, click here to see how it works! With the great advantage of flexibility, the device vibrates when exposed to the wind and, as its rod sways, an electromagnetic field is formed. In addition, the startup disclosed that 100 pre-commercial prototypes, each 85 centimeters high, are already being Tested in different locations.

One of the biggest challenges facing engineering today is finding new technologies to meet energy needs in a clean, sustainable and profitable way. The use of wind energy has been used worldwide as a solution to meet this demand, and it was with this in mind that Vortex created a wind turbine with many more benefits than conventional ones.
