SPIC Brasil, one of the largest renewable energy generators in the world, closes a financing agreement with Banco do Nordeste with a focus on building more wind farms in Rio Grande do Norte.
The energy generator SPIC Brasil closed a financing agreement in the amount of R$ 282,2 million with Banco do Nordeste (BNB). The amount will be used in the construction of the wind farms Pedra Amolar I, Pedra Amolar II and Paraíso Farol II, located in the municipality of Touros (Rio Grande do Norte). The credit will be released according to the disbursement schedule and evolution of the artworks. The consultancy Itaca Advisory was involved in the process as a financial advisor in the transaction.
The financing acquired by the energy generator will be used to build three wind farms. A fourth park is in sight, but the proposal is still under review
BNB's resources come from the Northeast Financing Constitutional Fund (FNE), a branch remunerated by the IPCA +3,68% pa and with the payment divided into 24 years.
The wind complex also includes the construction of the Paraíso Farol III park, which is financed through another type of credit, but the proposal is still being analyzed.

More than 20% of the resources used in the construction of the parks come from the company's own capital. In all, the new Wind Power Plants will have around 105 MW of installed capacity.
The new complexes are greenfield projects. The greenfield Project is one where there are no restrictions imposed by previous work, that is, the construction is built from scratch, on land where there is no need to work on restrictions of buildings or other existing constructions.
SPIC Brasil is the fifth largest private generator in the country, focusing on supplying safe, sustainable energy and with respect for the communities where it operates.
The company has assets that add up to more than 3GW. Buildings in the RN, in addition to encouraging the addition of clean energy sources, will also contribute to the generation of more jobs in the region, thus collaborating in the country's energy transition.
“We want to arrive in 2025 among the three largest in the sector. Investments in the Northeast are fundamental in our growth strategy, where we plan to invest approximately R$ 6,5 billion in the coming years, focusing on the generation of renewable energy”, says the company's financial director, Paulo Dutra.
With an eye on the future of people and the environment, beyond wind farms
The company is also installing two solar parks in the region, with 738MW of capacity, with Canadian Solar, a Canadian company dedicated to the manufacture of photovoltaic solar modules and also executes large-scale solar projects.
The units start operating in 2024, according to the project, in the municipalities of Brasileira (PI) and Jaguaretama (CE). With the new wind farms being built in Rio Grande do Norte and two parks already in operation in Paraíba, there are approximately 1GW of installed capacity in the Northeast of the country.
