Porto Murtinho, in Mato Grosso do Sul, could be a strategic point on the Ocean Route and has been receiving several investments from the Government to increase its participation in the export and import corridor.
Last Tuesday (21/06), a new contract for carrying out work was published in the Official State Gazette. The State Government will make a millionaire investment to carry out the duplication and paving of a stretch on the BR-267, more precisely, in the 1,3 km. This location where the works will be carried out refers to entry from the city of Porto Murtinho, which is located in Mato Grosso do Sul and borders Paraguay. It is an area that is still being prepared, but which is already considered extremely important for the import and export corridor.
The importance behind the millionaire government investment for the duplication of BR-267, in Mato Grosso do Sul
As stated in the publication, the amount to be invested will be R$ 7,8 million, and will be used in the duplication of this BR, which may bear fruit in the future. The resources for such works to be initiated and completed will come from the State Government itself. At first, the responsible company will have an estimated period of 6 months, that is, about 180 days for delivery.
For Governor Reinaldo Azambuja. “Porto Murtinho is at the peak of investments to prepare that region for the implementation of the export and import corridor along the Bioceânica Route, in addition to the strengthening and growth of the ports. A city that will have an extraordinary development in the coming years”.

In general, this investment will bring several benefits to the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, especially to the municipality of Porto Murtinho, which will be a strategic point on the Bioceânica Route. Which aims to connect the state to South American countries, with the aim of, in the future, shortening the path to the Pacific Ocean.
All this is already being planned, so that Porto Murtinho receives investments and ends up being a route to other ports. And after achieving these goals, the next goal will be negotiations with Asian countries.
Porto Murtinho could make a significant contribution to the Brazilian port sector after these government investments
So far, the city has received several investments, whether for the improvement of infrastructure, as well as in other sectors, such as health, education, sanitation, sports, security and housing.
From 2015 to 2022, the State Government currently in charge has already invested R$ 109 million in Porto Murtinho. Of this amount, R$ 83 million were allocated to infrastructure works. Firming more and more its goal of making the municipality a strategic and highly valued point on the Oceanic Route.
For Nelson Cintra, the current mayor of the city, he reveals that the State Government has been a great ally in making these works come off the drawing board and become reality. Making Porto Murtinho gain notoriety in the Brazilian port sector. “The Government opened the doors to Porto Murtinho, which turned into a construction site. He is the best governor we have ever had and Murtinho is now the beginning of Brazil”, reports Cintra.
At the moment, it remains to wait for the duplication and paving works to be ready, so that the municipality begins to grow greatly and come to corroborate with the Brazilian ports. In addition, it will be a great ally when it comes to export or import routes. Attracting more jobs and visibility to the city and its residents.
