With 66% of the networks evaluated with assertions "regular, bad and terrible", as shown by a survey by CNT - Confederação Nacional dos Transportes, the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, says that the main commitment of his portfolio, in this first year, is the interruption of the process of destruction of highways in Brazil.

For Renan Filho, structuring works need to be rescued, and not take the resources and fragment them to build an endless number of works. The ministry has already identified more than 100 works at a standstill, or at a slow stage, in the country, in 2023, and its goal is to recover the transport sector and improve logistics.

For this, the minister of transport announced, this Wednesday (18), a package of five axles, to be executed in the first four months of this year, namely. Revitalization, resumption and intensification of works road e railroads; accident prevention by avoiding deaths on highways; measures to dispose of the grain harvest, which promises to break a record since the first days of 2023; immediate action for prevention and assistance in case of natural disasters; and mechanisms that attract private investment.

With the construction of 92 kilometers of highways, revitalization of 572 kilometers of federal roads, the package also includes the signaling of roads, as well as the construction of bridges and viaducts, 72 in all. The forecast is that the package will capture R$ 1,7 billion from the budget in the foreseen period, for the delivery of 861 kilometers of built highways. An expense that has not been seen since 2018.

By April, Renan Filho wants the highways in several federation units to already have deliveries, among them, in Roraima, the BR-432; in Acre, the BR-364, the BR-116 in Ceará, Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul; the BR-101 in Sergipe and Alagoas; the BR-080 in Goiás; in Minas Gerais, the BR-3811; in Espírito Santo, the BR-447; in Paraná, the BR-163; and in Santa Catarina, the BR-470.

The transport minister also explained that to be implemented, the package will need new contracts to be signed for 2.876 kilometers; for more than 8.032 kilometers, bidding for new hires; for 17.312, new tenders for revitalization, signage and construction; and, for 1.469 kilometers, new network expansion projects. In pursuit of sustainability, studies and environmental actions are planned for compensatory planting and recovery of degraded areas, this also requires holding bids, specific contracts, and holding public hearings, although there is still no specific design for this.

Competitiveness and security

Renan Filho does not believe in modernization without investing in railway modal. For this reason, the transport minister said that the package also provides for a 40% increase in participation in the sector, mainly in terms of logistics, and that in 2035 we will have a matrix with 60% participation. And with that, there will be an increase in competitiveness, and there will be more safety, even for those who travel on the highways. The announced package received XNUMX contributions from a popular consultation carried out by the Ministry of Transport in the first half of January of this year. Renan Filho promises to continue with the practice.
