Registration is now open for the course “Strategies for the Prevention of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)”, which is completely free and is held remotely (EAD).

With a workload of 120 hours spread over five months, the course aims to train professionals to understand the risk factors associated with NCDs and develop effective prevention and control strategies.

Course Objectives
The course's main objective is to train professionals capable of identifying and intervening in the risk factors of NCDs, promoting public policies and health actions that contribute to reducing the incidence of these diseases.
Among the topics covered, the following stand out:
- Tobacco control: Study of public policies and the implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Use Control.
- Alcohol abuse: Discussion of strategies to reduce harmful consumption of alcoholic beverages, considering cultural and social aspects.
- Promotion of healthy habits: Encouragement of adopting a balanced diet, regular physical activity and combating a sedentary lifestyle, essential factors in preventing diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
Methodology and structure
The course will be held entirely online, through a Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) that will offer synchronous and asynchronous activities.
This flexibility allows participants to manage their study schedules according to their availability, dedicating approximately six hours per week to the proposed activities.
In addition, students will have the support of specialized tutors, ready to clarify doubts and guide the development of activities.
Target audience and requirements
The training is aimed at health professionals linked to the Unified Health System (SUS) and other professionals in related areas, such as economists, lawyers, pedagogues and physical education teachers, who are interested in working in health promotion and prevention of NCDs.
To participate, you must have a degree, be available for six hours a week to study, have access to the internet and have basic computer skills.
Vacancies and inclusion policies
In all, 100 places are offered, of which 70% allocated to broad competition and 30% reserved for affirmative actions, including black people, indigenous people and people with disabilities.
In addition, 40 alternate candidates will be selected, aiming to ensure that all available vacancies are filled.
Selection process and registration at Fiocruz
Registration is open until March 21, 2025 and must be carried out exclusively by the Fiocruz official website. There is no registration fee.
Candidates must complete an electronic form and attach the following scanned documents:
- Short CV: According to the model provided in the course announcement.
- letter of intent: Text of up to 15 lines, in which the candidate explains their expectations regarding the course and how they intend to apply the knowledge acquired in their professional practice.
The selection of participants will be carried out based on the analysis of the resume and letter of intent, totaling a maximum score of 10 points.
The evaluation criteria include professional experience in the SUS, participation in courses and events related to the topic of NCDs and clarity in the presentation of the ideas presented in the letter of intent.
