ES Secretariat announced an investment of BRL 400 for the installation of eight solar power plants for coffee producers in the region. The solar plants will have the capacity to generate, together, up to 8 kWh per month

This past Saturday (18), the Municipal Secretariat for Agriculture and the Interior of Iúna (ES) held a meeting with representatives of the Municipality's associations and farmers, on the premises of the Iúna Exhibition Park, so that the “Sustainable Coffee Growing” Project could be presented. On the occasion, Federal Deputy Neucimar Fraga, presented an investment of R$ 400 thousand in the installation of solar energy plants in eight associations in the Municipality of ES.

Among the authorities who participated in the meeting that announced the investment were: mayor Romário Batista Vieira, team from the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture and interior of Iúna (ES), councilor Edson, Municipal Secretaries, president of the Chamber of Iúna, Federal Deputy Neucimar Fraga and the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture and Interior, João Marcos Gava.

According to explanations by João Marcos, the investment was announced at a good time, considering that the value will contribute to the execution of a pilot project throughout the state of ES, created by the team of the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture and Interior, focused on economy and sustainability.

Each of the solar power plants has a photovoltaic system capable of generating an average energy production of 1 kWh per month, and together they can generate a total of up to 8 kWh per month. With the investment, 8 ES associations served, which have pulpers, coffee pillar machines and dryers, will be able to carry out their activities using sustainable energy.

More than 150 producers will benefit from the investment

Around 150 producers will benefit from the solar power plant project. According to João Marcos, Iúna is currently the municipality that produces the most Arabica coffee in ES and the 9th largest producer of Arabica coffee in Brazil, according to IBGE data from last year.

This project will help farmers to take care of the environment, saving energy and reducing production costs. João says that the secretariat is very happy to be able to start this phase of raising funds for the project.

Mayor Romário also commented, stating that the Secretariat of Agriculture is working to bring renewal paths to its farmers. Everyone is going through moments where it is necessary to renew, therefore, projects like this, which generate great returns, are essential for society.

Solar energy market in Espírito Santo

ES occupies the 12th position in the state ranking of distributed generation and the state's solar source has 58,3 MW of installed power according to Absolar. Due to the constant energy problems and their variations in electricity bills in Brazil, the demand for solar energy systems has increased exponentially as a complete alternative energy solution, in addition to being clean, “free” and sustainable.
