The hybrid event will bring together companies from the sector, energy agencies and universities to discuss the challenges, perspectives and opportunities of renewable fuels in the LPG segment

To leverage the importance of discussing the energy transition in the scope of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Supergasbras and SHV Energy, world leader in the distribution of LPG, will hold on the next 10th and 11th of October, at the Museum of Tomorrow, in Rio de Janeiro, Sustainability That Moves the World – 2nd Seminar on Sustainable Fuel Gases.

In this event, representatives of companies in the sector, energy agencies and universities will discuss the challenges, perspectives and opportunities to stimulate the development of renewable liquefied gases.

With online transmission from 9 am (10/10) and 10 am (11/10), the seminar will have five macro themes:

  • Challenges and opportunities in Liquefied Gaseous Biofuels;
  • Corporate initiatives for a more sustainable portfolio;
  • The journey of renewable fuels in companies: from development to commercialization;
  • Advances in R&D for new and optimized production processes for renewable fuels;
  • Funding opportunities and collaboration between government, academia and industry for participants across feedstock, converting and distribution value chains.

“In 2021, Supergasbras launched the Sustainable Fuels Program to complement the company's efforts on this journey. Our main objective is to advance, together with partners, in the development of sustainable fuels and their commercialization for the off grid segment”, says the president of Supergasbras, Julio Cardoso. “LPG is already an efficient fuel gas, cleaner and with low carbon emissions. But, we want more. SHV Energy's goal is to sell up to 2040 renewable and sustainable alternatives in the same volume of fossil fuel distributed in 2015 by the Group. And we are on this path together”, he adds.

In 2021, in a pioneering way in Brazil, Supergasbras started discussing the topic in the LPG segment by holding the first edition of the seminar. On the occasion, the debates were enhanced by the question and answer session with more than 170 participants from all over the world who attended the online event.

“Our main objective for the meeting in 2022 is to continue this journey and boost the development of biofuels with a particular focus on renewable liquefied gases, such as biopropane, biobutane (renewable versions of LPG), biomethane and renewable dimethyl ether (rDME)”, explains Priscila Maziero , Biofuel Development Manager at Supergasbras.

Those interested in attending the event must register for free here.
