But be careful: the registration deadline is approaching and you need to act quickly to secure a place on this completely free specialization course!

Deadline extended to January 2025

Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC/Fiocruz) announced that registration for the Specialization course in Dissemination and Popularization of Science has been extended until January 16, 2025.

This decision gives interested parties more time to apply and take advantage of this incredible opportunity to become experts in mediating the dialogue between science, technology and society.

The course, which offers 20 vacancies, will be held in person at the Fiocruz Manguinhos campus, located in Rio de Janeiro.

Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9am to 17pm. One detail that makes this opportunity even more attractive is that There are no registration or monthly fees, that is, it is completely free.

Objectives and target audience

With a focus on training professionals capable of working in scientific communication, the course's main objectives are:

  • Train specialists that are capable of promoting efficient mediation between science and society.
  • Develop a critical thinking on the processes and products of scientific dissemination.
  • Provide a solid foundation of practical and academic knowledge in the area.
  • Expand citizen participation in debates on science, technology and health.

This specialization is aimed at professionals from different areas who wish to improve their skills in scientific communication, expanding access to knowledge in a clear and impactful way for different audiences.

What will the selection process be like?

The selection will be carried out in three rigorous and highly competitive stages:

Documentation analysis (eliminatory): The documents sent by the candidates will be evaluated by the organizing team.

Evaluation of the letter of intent, pre-project and CV (eliminatory and qualifying): The quality of the candidate's proposal and its compatibility with the course objectives will be analyzed.

Online interview (eliminatory and qualifying): A conversation will be held with the candidates to verify their commitment and motivation.

    To be approved, the candidate must achieve minimum grade of 7,0 at each stage. The final classification will be calculated based on the average of the grades from the second and third stages.

    In the event of a tie, criteria such as highest score in the second stage, highest score in the third stage and oldest age will be considered.

    Who can participate?

    As 20 vacancies offered are distributed in an inclusive manner, ensuring diversity in the student body. The division is made as follows:

    • 13 vacancies for general competition.
    • 4 vacancies for black candidates (black and brown).
    • 2 vacancies for people with disabilities.
    • 1 vacancy for indigenous candidates.

    This distribution reinforces Fiocruz’s commitment to equity and inclusion in its educational programs.
