Complete and accessible training

According to notice no. 001/2024, amended on December 9, 2024, the course of Specialization in Teaching Sociology in High School It is aimed at graduate teachers who teach in the public school system.

Completely distance learning and free of charge, the specialization offers 90 places and aims to train teachers with modern pedagogical practices aligned with the demands of secondary education.

Lasting 18 months and 360 class hours, the course is structured to provide an enriching academic experience.

As detailed by CAPES, the initiative is part of the UAB/CAPES System, a program that seeks to strengthen the qualifications of Brazilian teachers.

What will you learn?

The specialization combines theory and practice to promote the improvement of Sociology teaching.

The focus is on innovative methodologies that transform the classroom into a dynamic and stimulating space.

Among the highlights of the training is the Course Conclusion Work (TCC), which encourages teachers to apply their learning to real projects.

These projects help develop solutions that can be implemented directly in the school environment, benefiting both educators and students.

How are the vacancies distributed?

According to the notice, the 90 vacancies are divided into specific categories:

  • Broad competition (AC): 60 vacancies available to any candidate who meets the general criteria.
  • Black, brown, indigenous or quilombola people (PPIQ): 30 reserved places, in compliance with affirmative action policies.

If the reserved vacancies are not filled, they will be redirected to the general competition. This strategy ensures that all opportunities are taken advantage of.

Selective Process

The selection process consists of four stages, with clear and objective criteria:

  1. Approval of registrations: At this stage, the documentation sent by the candidates will be analyzed.
  2. Document scoring: length of service and graduation diploma will be evaluated.
  3. Heteroidentification: applicable exclusively to candidates registered for PPIQ vacancies.
  4. Announcement of the final result: the list of approved candidates will be made available in the SIGAA system and on the SEDIS website.

According to UFRN, all information will be published on official channels, ensuring transparency in the process.

Additionally, candidates may appeal the preliminary results within one business day after their publication.

Why choose this course?

In addition to being free and completely online, the course offers the chance to earn a specialist title without the need for physical travel.

This modality was designed to meet the needs of teachers, who often face challenges in balancing work, studies and personal life.

According to CAPES, specialization has a direct impact on the quality of teaching in public schools.

The learning acquired by teachers is reflected in student performance, promoting a cycle of continuous improvement in basic education.

To do this, it is necessary to access the SIGAA portal and follow the guidelines described in the notice.
