Santa Cruz plant receives investments

Ternium Steel Complex in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, receives millions of dollars every year in investments in the area of โ€‹โ€‹infrastructure and environment

Ternium invested, from July last year to June this year, US$ 80 million in infrastructure and the environment at the industrial plant of Companhia Siderรบrgica do Atlรขntico (CSA), in Santa Cruz, west of Rio de Janeiro .
Siderรบrgica was purchased from ThyssenKrupp in 2017 and when it was acquired the production capacity was around 4,5 million tons, today it is at 4,7 million steel plates, thanks to the investments made.

The company's annual investment expectation in the plant in the state of Rio de Janeiro, for the next period, should be close to U$ 100 million and three companies from Minas Gerais are absorbing these projects: Usiminas Mecรขnica, Convaรงo and Emalto.
According to the general manager of Ternium in Brazil, Fernando Caracoche, the total installed capacity of the plant reaches 5 million tons, but he intends to expand these numbers in the medium term, but it will depend on the increase in demand in the international market.

The scope of contractors

Regarding Usiminas Mecรขnica's investments and execution, the production shutdown is scheduled to start this week and should last eighteen days.
The scope of Usiminas Mecรขnica involves the restoration of the electrostatic precipitator, which aims to improve the levels of gas emissions in the atmosphere.

With regard to Convaรงo de Ipatinga, the company will be responsible for repair work on the sintering ignition furnace.
Emalto de Timรณteo, on the other hand, will build an elevator for the plant's blast furnaces.

Another area that is receiving a lot of investment is the automation sector, with the purchase of 2 robots, which cost US$ 6 million and are replacing human action in high-risk activities.
These replaced employees were relocated to supervise the activities, this example will be spread to other plants in Mexico and Argentina.
