The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) made an announcement this Thursday (26) about the reopening of rural credit lines, starting on February 1 and, with all that, had the forecast of the release of resources additional approximately 2,9 billion reais to finance the 2022/2023 harvest, as per the bank's statement.
This measure came shortly after the suspension of protocols and contracting of new credit operations within the scope of the Federal Government Agricultural Programs (PAGF), in the second half of 2022, due to the level of resource commitments.
Of all the total estimated by the bank, this family farm has a large share of 491 million reais, while medium and large producers will have access to 2,4 billion for their costs and investments, according to the BNDES.
Some of the lines that were reactivated are: Pronaf (family farming), Pronamp (medium producer), Moderfrota (agricultural machinery and equipment), PCA (storage) and ABC Plan (low-carbon agriculture).
The bank also highlighted that it remains one of the important supporters of the agricultural sector and that its resources reach rural producers and cooperatives, being mainly made by partner financial agents.
“In the 2022/23 Crop Plan, 16 billion reais have already been approved through partner institutions, among development agencies, automaker banks, credit cooperatives, cooperative banks, private banks and public banks”, he reaffirmed, citing that more or less 70 rural producers and cooperatives have been assisted since July 1, 2022, when the plan came into effect.
Even during the entire suspension of the protocol of operations in the PAGF, which occurred in the present Crop Plan, the BNDES recalled that some credits remained available to its producers through other proprietary solutions, such as, for example, the BNDES Rural Credit Product.
“Since the beginning of the current crop year, in June 2022, until mid-January, around 2,8 billion reais have been approved under the product.”
In mid-August of last year, the then Minister of Agriculture Marcos Montes even said that he was still waiting for “shortly” the resumption of credit lines that were still suspended by the BNDES.
