Volkswagen will also open a new company focused on the electric battery sector that will also take care of the recycling of batteries that are no longer useful.

Competitors beware, because the German multinational Volkswagen came with everything in relation to the motto “Way to Zero” (A Caminho do Zero) adopted to symbolize the era of electric cars by the automaker, and confirmed that it will have six new giant factories of batteries for electric cars distributed throughout Europe, starting with Salzgitter, in Lower Saxony (Germany), scheduled to be inaugurated in 2025.

In addition, the German automaker said it will open a new company focused on the electric battery sector that will also take care of recycling batteries that are no longer useful.

Thomas Schmall, Member of the Board of Management for Technology at Volkswagen AG and CEO of Volkswagen Group Components says: “We want to offer our customers powerful, economical and sustainable vehicle batteries, which means we need to be active in all stages of the battery value chain that are essential for success.”

Volkswagen has already defined where the second of the 6 battery gigafactories will be located

Volkswagen, which has a 20% stake in Northvolt, will build the second of 6 battery gigafactories in Sweden in partnership with StartUp. The German automaker has not yet defined the other four locations that will receive its battery factories for electric cars but, according to VW, all should be in operation by 2030, the year established as a deadline by the multinational to have 70% of sales concentrated in 100% electric cars.

“We are now pooling our energy in Salzgitter, with the aim of encouraging innovation and securing the best partners' support for our new company in the future. We already have a strong battery team in Salzgitter comprising 500 employees from 24 countries – and we continue to strengthen this team at a leadership level.”

For those who don't know, Volkswagen recently announced joint work with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, at the German group's Innovation Center in the United States.

The company will develop a higher power wireless charger using innovative designs that focus electromagnetic waves to eliminate interference and, consequently, increase efficiency.

The prototype showed a high level of efficiency in the first tests, where 98% of the energy used (coil by coil) could reach the vehicle's battery.

Ford boosts production to manufacture 150 F-150 pickup trucks and 600 electric cars a year, and competes with giant electric car makers General Motors and Tesla

Ford Motor Company said on Tuesday that it will double the annual production capacity of its F-4 Lightning electric pickup truck, which would make 150 vehicles. The model has already attracted nearly 150.000 bookings ahead of its arrival this spring at US dealers. EUA, and the dispute with rivals General Motors and Tesla will intensify!

Ford's announcement comes a day ahead of the public introduction of the Chevrolet Silverado motorcycle by rival General Motors Co, which is scheduled to go on sale in early 2023.
