Largest bridge in São Paulo undergoes duplication over the Tietê River, with parallel structure, 208 pre-molded beams, 124 support stakes, and environmental measures to maintain navigation, enhance road safety, and strengthen regional flow
The duplication of the Engenheiro Gilberto Paim Pamplona bridge has reached 75% on SP-333, between Novo Horizonte and Pongaí, with an investment of R$ 387.3 million and delivery expected this year.
Parallel bridge advances over the Tietê River
Intervention does not replace the existing structure. The work constructs a parallel bridge on the eastbound of Dr. Mário Gentil Highway to reorganize the crossing over the Tietê River.
New structure will have two traffic lanes. The current bridge will be revitalized and adapted for pedestrians and cyclists, with enhanced lighting, expanding the use of the connection that receives 1.3 million vehicles per year.

The project foresees 2.4 kilometers, a central span of 125 meters, and 208 pre-molded concrete beams. Each piece is 41 meters and 74 tons, produced locally.

Foundations require operation in the river
Duplication involves barges, support vessels, and foundations executed in the water. Of the 124 stakes planned to support the new lanes, 112 will be within the Tietê River.
In the central span, the method of successive balances maintains navigation of the Tietê-Paraná Waterway. In 2024, 959 thousand tons of soybeans, 403 thousand tons of sugarcane, and 81.5 thousand passengers passed through it.
Environmental care accompanies the work
The material removed from the tubes used in the stakes is separated, decanted, analyzed, and disposed of outside the riverbed. On the banks, biologists and veterinarians isolate sections and rescue fish before interventions.
The duplication is part of SP Pra Toda Obra, which completed one year in May, with R$ 144.6 billion in investments, 4.3 thousand works and projects until 2055.
Leave your opinion in the comments: the duplication of this bridge can improve regional mobility, production flow, and safety on SP-333, but also involves complex works on the Tietê River, environmental care, and direct impacts at each stage of the work.
