The new Petrobras president's plan to accelerate the sale of its refineries was successful and more companies may enter the dispute in the coming days
The sale of Petrobras refineries was resumed with full force and speed, in an official statement from the state-owned company today (18), causing frustration in entities and union members who had hope in the new president of the company, Ivan Monteiro, who took over after resigning former president, Pedro Parente, when he suffered pressure triggered by the walkers' strike. New mobilizations of unions are taking place at this moment in order to decide what to do about this issue.
On the Petrobras website, in the official statement, there is a written excerpt: "Petrobrรกs, in continuity with the announcements released on 27/04/2018 and 23/05/2018 referring to the processes of partnerships in refining, informs that, in response to a request from interested in refining partnerships, extended the deadline for signing confidentiality agreements and other documents provided for in the disclosure of the opportunity to 02/07/2018.โ in easy words, the sale of the Petrobras refineries could be carried out anonymously, without anyone knowing the companies in the dispute and the date of the sales.

According to the press office of the state-owned company, the sale of the Petrobras refineries is part of the company's divestment plan, with the aim of strengthening the company and strategically repositioning it in the refining market. This would only be possible through partnerships with companies in the refining, logistics and transport segments. With these new measures, Petrobras will hand over 25% of its refining capacity to the private sector, which naturally must be foreign companies.
