The expansion projects of existing pharmaceutical-chemical complexes in the largest port complex in the Northeast are valued at R$ 4 billion, and could generate more than 1.650 new jobs
The Suape industrial port complex, located in the city of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in the metropolitan region of Recife (PE), was once a major reference in job generation in Brazil, before the sinking of the shipbuilding sector due to corruption scandals, revealed by Operation Lava Jato. However, the enterprise is still a power for the regional and economic development of the country, due to its location and strategic importance. Therefore, there is great expectation for the return of the “jobs rain” due to the billionaire investments that are to come, such as the expansion of the existing pharmaceutical centers in the place.

The project for this second stage should occupy an area of 250 square meters and total approximately R$ 500 million in investments, and should generate more than 250 jobs.

Expectations for the Transnordestina branch that would connect Suape
A transnortheastern railroad, whose current project is to connect the city of Elizeu Martins, in Piauí, to the Port of Pecém, in São Gonçalo do Amarante (CE), should contemplate the Port of Suape, with the construction of a branch that would start in the middle of the railroad , in the city of Salgueiro, in the hinterland of Pernambuco. Thus, there would be 1.200 kilometers of tracks from Piauí to Ceará and another 700 kilometers from Salgueiro to Suape.
However, the concessionaire responsible for the work, with the approval of the Bolsonaro government, decided not to carry out the Salgueiro-Suape section, which caused enormous dissatisfaction. The imbroglio made the pages of the local political news.
Political leaders have been negotiating with agents of the current Federal Government so that the project goes back to how it was, contemplating the Port of Suape. There is still no definitive solution to the situation.
