This discovery marks another significant step for TotalEnergies, which had already found oil and gas in 2022, during operations drilling in well 1-TOT-2-RJS, also known as Marolo-1, at a depth of 3.000 meters in the same area.
Exploration work in the Santos Basin is being conducted using the Valaris Renaissance drillship, which plays a fundamental role in the search and identification of resources in the region.

This block was acquired by TotalEnergies during the 16th Bidding Round carried out by the ANP in 2019.
Drawing attention for being the asset with the biggest signature bonus in the auction, worth R$4,029 billion.
TotalEnergies acts as operator of the area, holding a 40% stake, in partnership with Qatar Petroleum (40%) and Petronas (20%).
Currently, CM-541 is the French company's only exploration asset in Brazil, demonstrating its continued commitment to the exploration of resources in the country and the search for opportunities in the promising pre-salt Santos Basin.
