Production and Platform
Platform based DNGA, the Yaris Cross is initially produced in Southeast Asia, but production will be transferred to the Toyota factory in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo.
Developed by Daihatsu, Toyota's low-cost brand, the DNGA platform is a simplified version of the TNGA matrix, used in Corolla e Corolla cross.
Although it shares the name with the European model, the Yaris cross destined for Brazil is quite different. At 4.310 mm long, 2.620 mm wheelbase, 1.770 mm wide and 1.615 mm high, it is slightly smaller than the Corolla Cross.
The design of the new Yaris Cross is sophisticated, with a front that features a trapezoidal grille and tapered headlights with full-LED lighting, as well as a rear that resembles the large Toyota RAV4.
Interior and Equipment
According to information from the Autoesporte website, the interior of the Yaris Cross is sober and functional, following the Corolla family line. It has horizontal lines and a multimedia center highlighted on the panel, compatible with Android Auto e Apple CarPlay wireless.
The instrument panel is partially digital, and the parking brake is electronic. Among the equipment, the highlights are 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning with rear outlets, Pioneer sound system and panoramic sunroof.
Engine and Performance
Still according to the website mentioned, the expectations surrounding the Yaris Cross in Brazil fall on its hybrid engine. The model will come with a 1.5 aspirated flex engine, combined with an electric motor, delivering 113 hp of combined power. The transmission will be the e-CVT transaxle.
In terms of consumption, the Yaris Cross can achieve up to 26 km/l in other countries, but, adapted to the Inmetro standard and with a flex engine, this number may be lower in Brazil. The front suspension is McPherson strut type, with a torsion beam at the rear, and the brakes are disc brakes on all four wheels.
International Reviews
According to the website Carmudi, from Indonesia, the Yaris Cross offers a high driving position, typical of SUVs, providing good visibility. The design of the panel is aimed at the driver, making it easier to use the controls. The brakes were praised for being responsive, comparable to a European car.
Currently, the Yaris Cross is sold in Indonesia with a 1.5 hybrid engine, something that should be repeated in Brazil. According to reviews, the engine has an audible sound, although not very loud, and minimal vibration.
This indicates that the SUV may not be the quietest under sudden accelerations, but it is expected to receive a special calibration for the Brazilian market, with better acoustic insulation.
In Chile, the website Autocosm highlighted the good internal space and the trunk capacity of 471 liters, one of the largest in the category. However, some criticisms were also made, such as the mix of cheap materials in the interior.
The version evaluated in Chile had a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine with 105 hp and 14,07 kgfm of torque, with a simulated seven-speed CVT automatic transmission. The lower power was highlighted as a weak point compared to the competition, which offers turbocharged engines of up to 150 hp.

A great option. I liked! Compact and economical.
It really is a beautiful car! Thanks for the comment, Panatta!
Great to wait for the release
Yes, and it will certainly be a success when it launches, huh! Thanks for the comment, Fernando!
Dear,
It looks like a good car, as it is a Toyota, an important Japanese brand.
Let's see if the price is generous, since it is a hybrid SUV, and if Brazil is prepared for electric fuel. Is the engine Toyota? Automatic?
What colors?

Thank you
Good evening, Sérgio! These details should be released in July with a new update from Toyota about the model. We will certainly update this pertinent information that you highlighted. Hugs and thanks for the comment.
The car is top, but it will lack an engine. The same thing happens with the hybrid Corolla. And it takes a long time to launch the car.
Nicks' rear and all Toyotas' front. Toyota doesn't have to work too hard to charge a lot and laugh at the Brazilian people 'I want to sell these things in the US. Reducing pollution is not enough to just assemble hybrids, taking parts from everywhere, they have to set a price for everyone and make Toyota contribute to the planet and also give a little of everything it has already taken from Brazilians.
