The transportation of a transformer 250 tons, which heads towards the Serra da Palmeira Wind Farm, suffered a temporary interruption last weekend in Paraíba.
According to the website G1 Paraiba, Federal Highway Police (PRF) ordered the stop at Saturday night (22/03) and Sunday morning (23/03). This decision ensured the team rest responsible for the convoy's escort and logistics.
Also according to the portal, the equipment will remain parked at km 112 of BR-230, in the municipality of inga, in the sense Johns Hopkins University – Johns Hopkins University.
In addition, the PRF will resume escorting 21:30pm on Sunday (23/03). Thus, arrival in Campina Grande is scheduled for Monday morning (24/03).

Slow but carefully planned movement
The company CGT Brasil transports the transformer, which China manufactured measuring 11,2 meters long, 4,2 meters wide and 4,5 meters high.
To make this complex operation viable, the company set up a structure with three trucks, two semi-trailers, 12 PRF vehicles e eight motorcycles.
So the train hits 113,7 meters long and a total weight of 600 tons.
Furthermore, displacement occurs at a average speed of 7 km/h, precisely to ensure safety on the route.
Therefore, for traffic reasons, the operation takes place mainly at night and in the early morning.
However, the passing through the Southwest Loop of Campina Grande will be done during the day, as the section is under construction and requires extra attention.
Wind farm represents robust investment and large-scale supply
According to G1, the Serra da Palmeira Wind Farm is being built in the region of Seridó from Paraíba. It will cover the municipalities of Picuí, New Palm Tree, Carved Stone, Sao Vicente do Seridó e Barauna.
In addition, the complex will feature 108 wind turbines and will offer a installed power of 648 MW, enough to supply up to 1,7 million people.
The company began construction in October 2023 and is on schedule to complete it in 2025.
Furthermore, he reported that he intends to transport a second transformer, with the same characteristics, in April. However, the exact date for the operation has not yet been defined.
Energy with a local destination and national impact
According to the director of CGT Brazil, Lucas Cardoso Sanchez, in an interview with TV Cabo Branco, the park will provide about 40% of the energy demand and Paraíba.
Additionally, excess energy will be sent to the National Interconnected System (SIN). This will directly contribute to energy stability in several regions of Brazil.
The connection between the park's substation and the Chesf substation, located in Campina Grande, will be done through a dedicated transmission line.
This way, the system will ensure energy efficiency, minimizing losses and expanding the integration of clean energy into the national matrix.
Safety and caution along the route
The PRF, as highlighted by G1, emphasized the importance of following safety protocols during travel.
Therefore, it advises drivers and residents to avoid approaching the moving train.
Furthermore, the corporation recommends that vehicles are not parked on the shoulder of BR-230, under penalty of fines or seizure.
Still according to G1, the operation began in 15/03, with output from km 94 of BR-101, in Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE).
No 17/03, the transformer crossed the border with Paraíba, around 16h30.
Finally, the equipment's final destination is the municipality of New Palm Tree, where it will be installed as part of the wind farm infrastructure.
