Smart robots are being developed, at Uber's request, to be part of a food delivery fleet, without relying on humans
After being forced to sell its fleet of autonomous cars in the year 2020, Uber wants to invest in a somewhat controversial proposal. The project is to have its own “convoy” of intelligent robots to carry out deliveries.
Uber's intelligent robot prototype was designed by Cartken, and each unit can carry up to eleven kilos, in addition to having integrated camera sensors and six wheels. The company aims to no longer need drivers to deliver Uber Eats, smart robots will take care of everything.
The testing phase will take place in Dadeland, a district of Miami, Florida. Meeting expectations, the idea will be taken to other cities during the year 2023.

According to Noah Zych, Uber's global head of delivery, Miami is a thriving market for Uber Eats and the company says it's excited to bring its residents testing smart robot delivery. The statement was given in an interview last Thursday, 15.
It is important to note that similar intelligent robots are used in other places, such as colleges in the United States, for example, and have a very good level of acceptance.
However, in this project where Uber is at the center, acceptance may not be so easy, in addition to having the potential to significantly change the field of delivery in the coming years, it may create labor problems as a result of registered employees.
It is worth mentioning that one of the three original founders of Uber, Oscar Salazar, said in an interview in 2016 that, in the future, intelligent robots would be used to do tasks previously only done by humans. By the way, that future is coming.
Uber's intelligent robots would be a great attraction here in Brazil, if the company still operates with the delivery service here
Here in Brazil this would be great news, but the Uber Eats service has been extinguished in Brazil. However, the company is not the first to believe in the deployment of technology to “up” deliveries. Retailers Walmart and Amazon intend to follow suit as well.
Amazon has already gone through a testing phase with the Scout robot, but the project, which was only experimental, was paused for an update and improvement. This is already a clear sign that the large chains are looking for options to not depend so much on humanized labor.
