Elizabeth Bagley, US ambassador to Brazil, warned about the country's concern with the arrival of Iranian warships. The Brazilian Navy granted authorization to the Iranian Navy after a green light from the Lula Government.

The relationship between the Lula government and the United States is in a real fight this Monday (27/02). The main reason is the arrival of Iranian warships to the Brazilian coast, after authorization was granted to mooring of the Brazilian Navy. The presence of the Iranian Navy in the national territory worries US authorities regarding the type of cargo they are carrying, as well as the country's approach to Latin America.

Arrival of warships in Brazil raises alarm in the United States about the country's presence in Latin America

The authorization by the Lula Government, through the Brazilian Navy, for the arrival of Iranian warships in Brazil caused a true fight between the Brazilian government and the United States.

The Navy is the body responsible for berthing requests for foreign ships in Brazilian territory. Thus, after inspections and a green light from the country's current ruler, it granted the necessary authorization for the vessels of the Iranian Navy dock on the national coast.

However, the decision created imminent concern among US officials present on national soil, such as Elizabeth Bagley, the US ambassador.

She cited terrorism and trade in illicit products as the main points that concern the country regarding the arrival of warships in Brazil.

According to her, these ships have already been sanctioned by the United Nations, after facilitating illegal trade in the past. Bagley reinforced that the United States understands the magnitude of Brazil and does not believe that the Iranian Navy should be in the country.

Despite recommendations from US representatives, the Brazilian Navy approved the arrival of Iranian Navy warships in Brazil

US Congresswoman Maia Salazar also commented on the situation and warned of the dangers of strengthening Iran's ties in the Latin America with the authorization of the Lula Government, through the Brazilian Navy.

“Iran has been aggressively strengthening its ties with the Western Hemisphere through like-minded socialist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba. They are also looking for opportunities elsewhere and it is no coincidence that Iranian ships are docking in Brazil just one month after a socialist took back power in the country”, commented the representative.

Although these recommendations and warnings from the US representatives in Brazil were made, the Lula government still gave the green light for the arrival of warships in the country.

The Brazilian Navy carried out the operation as usual, requesting compliance with current health and epidemiological standards.

Thus, representatives of the Iranian Navy present in Brazil will spend next week in Rio de Janeiro.

In recent weeks, the country's warships have also been in national territory, at the same time that a United States aircraft has flown over the country.

The move generated rumors about the US country's willingness to check possible weapons and nuclear items carried by Iranian ships.

With or without a fight with the United States, the warships of the Iranian Navy remain in the country after authorization from the Lula Government and the Brazilian Navy.
