The Unium unit will be installed next to the land where the group's Milk Processing Unit is located, close to the PR-151. The venture in Ponta Grossa will be installed in front of Maltaria Campos Gerais, also a Unium project, which will receive an initial investment of R$ 1,5 billion.

The project to build the cheese unit in Ponta Grossa is an old one, planned for years, and the negotiation of the malt factory contributed a lot to its construction. According to José Loureiro Neto, municipal secretary for Industry, Commerce and Professional Qualification, when the executives met to talk about the malting project, they also commented on the cheese factory. There were many negotiations, and the Unium unit entered together with the malt shop and helped to close the investment quota in Ponta Grossa.

More than 1,6 jobs will be created

The new enterprise will generate several benefits for the municipality, according to José, especially in the generation of 66 direct jobs and more than 1.570 indirect ones.

“An investment of this size moves many job openings in agribusiness and many more people will be employed, generating more taxes for the city hall, in addition to increasing income”, said Loureiro, emphasizing that it is yet another investment that could develop the North Industrial District , which, in addition to DAF and UBL, will also have the Nissin factory and Maltaria.

According to Loureiro, as with the malting plant, Unium is running with the documentation so that everything is approved as soon as possible and the works can start later this year. The goal, according to the secretary, is for the cheese unit, which will create several job openings, to be inaugurated in 2023.
