The Dutch investment in Brazil, more precisely from the Port of Rotterdam Authority in the Port of Pecém, is a large-scale mega project that includes the modernization and expansion of port and industrial facilities. With an investment of approximately US$85,5 million, equivalent to R$414,675 million, the mega project aims to transform the Port of Pecém into one of the main logistics and industrial hubs in the northeast of Brazil.
Second Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port Authority of Rotterdam in a statement, the participation of the Port of Rotterdam in the Brazilian Port of Pecém is promising for all parties.
This investment will further intensify the partnership and the port will work with the state of Ceará to ensure that the Port of Pecém expands to become the future logistics and commercial center of Northeast Brazil.
More than 20 thousand jobs will be created after Dutch investment in Brazil
The expectation is that, with the Dutch investment in Brazil, around 3 to 5 thousand jobs are created. With the estimate based on the proportion of three indirect jobs for each direct job, the expectation is that 9 to 15 thousand indirect jobs will be generated.
Investments for the Mega Project are crucial for the economic development of the region, providing new jobs and leveraging local economic growth. The total impact of the jobs generated goes beyond direct figures, improving infrastructure, increasing logistical efficiency and promoting sustainable development in the area.
These jobs include sectors such as transportation, logistics, services, supply of materials and equipment, and other ancillary sectors. It is common for projects of this magnitude to create a significant number of indirect jobs, often exceeding the number of direct jobs.
The estimate is that for every direct job created in infrastructure projects, up to three indirect jobs will be created.
Brazil receives visit from vice-ambassador of the Netherlands
The holder of Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), Silvio Costa Filho highlighted the importance of commercial exchange between both countries. In the port area, the minister cited the Port of Rotterdam, the largest seaport in Europe, as an example for other ports in the world.
As for the airport modal, the holder highlighted that he plans to create greater capillarity between Brazil and other nations, especially the Netherlands.
According to Silvio Costa Filho, the Ministry of Ports and Airports is concentrating its efforts on developing actions in different areas of activity. One of them is to discuss the environmental agenda, such as green ships and ports and new operations that dialogue with environmental sustainability.
