A University of São Paulo (USP) announced the opening of registrations for the 26th USP School Meeting, starting on May 1st.
In total, around 50 free courses are offered, aimed at basic education teachers, with participation options both in the capital of São Paulo and in cities in the interior of the state.
The extension project, which has been running for 14 years, offers a unique opportunity for updating and training teachers, with activities scheduled for the second half of 2025.

Registration, which is completely free, can be done online until May 29th through the USP Apolo system, available to all interested parties.
This event is one of the institution's largest university extension projects and aims to encourage the exchange of experiences between university and basic education professors, with a focus on solving contemporary educational challenges.
Registration opens and course details
The USP Escola Meeting, which is held twice a year, always takes place during school holidays.
For the 2025 edition, activities will take place between the days July 14 and 16, with courses offered at Faculty of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences (FFLCH) and Institute of Chemistry (IQ), both on the Butantã campus, in addition to School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH), located on the USP Leste campus, in the capital.
In the interior of the state, the cities of São Carlos and Ribeirão Preto will also host the event's activities.
Programming USP School Meeting is varied, with refresher courses 30 hours, conversation circles, lectures, workshops and discussion panels that cover a wide range of topics related to basic education curricula.
The event is divided into five major areas of knowledge: Education, human, Languages, Mathematics e Nature.
Among the course options, topics such as robotics and artificial intelligence, genetics, astronomy, Afro-Brazilian culture, biotechnology, food chemistry e climate changes.
Objective of the Meeting: to promote dialogue between different knowledge
Since its creation, the central objective of the USP Escola Meeting has been to promote dialogue between universities and schools.
The project aims not only to update basic education teachers, but also to integration of academic and pedagogical knowledge, with an emphasis on the application of new knowledge in everyday school life.
The theme of this year's opening table will be “What kind of school do we want?”, encouraging reflection on the direction of education in Brazil and the paths to transforming teaching in the country.
According to information from USP, since its reformulation in 2011, the USP Escola Meeting has already served more than 13 thousand teachers from all over Brazil.
In its current version, the event has the participation of different units of the university, covering several areas of knowledge.

An integration project with the school community
The USP Escola Meeting is one of the main projects linked to USP Brings Schools Closer Together Program, Dean of Culture and University Extension (PRCEU), which aims to strengthen relations between the university and schools throughout the state of São Paulo.
The event is held in partnership with Association of Public School Teachers (APEP), contributing to the construction of an education more connected with the new demands of society and the technological transformations that directly impact the school world.
The project initially emerged in 2007, in Institute of Physics (IF) from USP, aimed exclusively at Physics teachers.
However, with the success of the initiative and the adherence to the Capes New Talents Program (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), in 2011, the Meeting gained a new configuration, with a significant expansion of its scope, now including all areas of knowledge.
Since then, the training has become a reference for teachers of different subjects and levels of education.
How to sign up for free courses
To sign up for free courses at 26th USP School Meeting, interested parties must access the Apollo system from USP from the day May 1st and register until May 29.
Places are limited and registration is mandatory to participate in the activities.
Additionally, the event offers certificates of participation for teachers who complete the proposed courses and activities, adding value to the curriculum of education professionals.
Over the course of the three-day event, participants will have the chance to learn new teaching methodologies and strategies that can be applied in the classroom, as well as exchange experiences with other educators.
