Flotel offshore

Changing board on a flotel-type oil platform, involving the use of a helicopter, follows an organized and safe procedure. Here is a detailed description and video of the process below:

Helicopter Landing

The helicopter, carrying workers who will begin their shifts, approaches the flotel platform and lands safely in the designated area.

Disembarkation of Workers Arriving

Once the helicopter is secured, the workers disembark. They are greeted by platform staff and given initial instructions, often including safety guidelines and information about their accommodations.

Passing of Information and Training

There is a meeting between the teams that are arriving and those that are leaving. During this meeting, critical information about the company's operations platform, security issues and any recent incidents are shared. Newly arrived workers can also receive specific training required for their roles.

Accommodation for Newly Arrived Workers

After the meeting, arrived workers head to their accommodations to settle in and prepare to start their shifts.

Outbound Workers Boarding the Helicopter

Meanwhile, the team finishing their shift prepares to leave the platform. They gather at the helipad, taking their personal belongings with them, and board the helicopter.

Departure of the Helicopter with the Departure Team

Once all outgoing workers are on board and safe, the helicopter takes off from the flotel platform, returning to land.

Start of New Work Shift

With the outgoing team on their way home and the new team already settled and briefed, the work shift on the flotel platform begins. The new team assumes responsibilities for operations, maintenance and other essential tasks.

This process is essential to maintain the continuity and safety of operations on the oil platform. It requires careful coordination and effective communication between all parties involved, ensuring efficiency and safety in the offshore work environment.
