The multinationals Bosch, Nissan and Volkswagen believe in the electrification of cars with the use of fuel cells based on ethanol biofuel

Can you imagine if you stop a car, fill it with ethanol, remove the hydrogen, feed the fuel cell and make the car run electrically? Well, the large multinationals Bosch, Nissan and Volkswagen believe in the electrification of cars using ethanol, and seek partnerships with major institutes such as USP and UNICAMP, in addition to deepening with ethanol producers, to make this dream a reality!

Brazil is the largest global producer of ethanol and we have the biofuel at all service stations in Brazil. Therefore, it would be enough to stop the car at the gas station, fill up with ethanol, remove the hydrogen, feed the fuel cell and make the car run electrically! This energy is clean indeed.

In Brazil, we still have another advantage, because most of our electricity, when taken, comes from hydroelectric plants. These power plants emit some carbon dioxide, but it is very little compared to the emission of a diesel thermal power plant, or coal, or any other fossil.

The multinational giant Bosch is a company that believes in the electrification of cars using ethanol. This will be possible thanks to the development of the ethanol-based fuel cell, which is also being developed by Nissan in agreement with USP, with IPEM, to develop the reformer, the magical little device that removes hydrogen from ethanol. Volkswagen has an agreement with Unicamp and an agreement with the Centro Técnico Canavieiro de Piracicaba, which develops alcohol and ethanol.

With this technology, a chemical reaction that takes place inside the vehicle's engine removes hydrogen from ethanol and generates electricity, capable of moving it autonomously and without generating polluting emissions.

“This is a great opportunity for Brazil and the ethanol industry to generate energy with a hydrogen cell, both for stationary and for urban mobility. By 2050, we know that we will have mobility free of carbon dioxide (CO2) and Brazil made the right decision in giving prestige to ethanol, as it is a biofuel that also boosts the local economy and generates jobs for the country”, said the president of Bosch in Latin America, Besaliel Botelho.

According to the president of Sindalcool-PB, the event achieved its objectives. “The meeting achieved the goal of starting an even more positive agenda. At this meeting, we valued the development of Flex technology by the automotive industry and recorded the economic growth generated by this technology. In 2003, Brazil produced just over 200 million tons of sugarcane and today the volume of sugarcane reaches more than 600 million. Now, more than 32 billion liters of ethanol are produced. Many cities have grown due to the development brought by the production of ethanol and sugar with Flex vehicles. Pollution has been reduced in large cities, many deaths have been avoided by using ethanol. The country had lower imports of petroleum derivatives, higher tax collection and the number of jobs doubled”, said Edmundo.

According to the executive, a new “prosperity leap” is yet to come. “Today, we are facing a new leap in prosperity with ethanol. Hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe, is contained in ethanol, which is energy-intensive, can be produced with advantages, the biomass of sugarcane and corn is renewable. The hydrogen from ethanol is safe and has zero emissions. Brazil is the only country that has a national ethanol supply network. These factors are decisive for the electrification of cars and trucks without the burden of batteries that cost five times more to be recycled and still use dirty energy”, pointed out Barbosa.

Ford breaks electric car rules! Mustang Mach-E wins respect around the world and will charge more than 80% at full power

The Ford Mustang Make is gaining respect around the world for its many qualities. Ford's electric SUV improves every day thanks to constant remote updates that improve some of its qualities. From now on, the charge limit is at a higher level that allows recharging in a shorter time. More than 80% of the load can be carried out at full power, slightly more than currently allowed.

This wasn't the only major update to Ford's increasingly popular electric. In addition to this higher charging speed, there is an optimized and extended electrical range. Thanks to resource optimization and better management of various equipment, the Mustang Mach-E will be able to extend its electric range a little further, which is already one of the best on the market.
