Volkswagen, a German automaker and one of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers, is planning the super launch of a popular car loved by Brazilians, in this case, the return of the VW Gol SUV, and promises to put fear in its competitor, Hyundai, threatening sales of the HB20.

The vehicle market is one of the most competitive today, due to the large number of automakers and countless models, to please all tastes, and because of this, companies need to always be looking for new things to attract customers.
Volkswagen, recognized for its legacy in the Brazilian automotive market, is reinventing itself with an audacious plan: bringing back the iconic Volkswagen Gol. This model, full of nostalgia and still present on the streets of Brazil, is about to undergo a significant transformation. According to recent information, the German automaker plans to 'reimagine' the Gol as an entry-level SUV, a strategic move that promises to shake up the automotive market.

According to industry sources, Volkswagen has plans to implement the new VW246 technology in the newly designed vehicle. The forecast is that the new Volkswagen Gol SUV goes into production in 2025 at the Taubaté factory, in São Paulo. Still without a definitive name, the model is part of Volkswagen's ambitious investment plan in hybrid technologies for the national market.
This news represents a potential challenge for Hyundai, whose HB20 model is currently one of Brazilian consumers' favorite SUVs and is often among the best-selling in the country. With the introduction of Volkswagen Gol SUV, the German automaker, which already has a solid and well-established reputation in Brazil, could make a significant impact on Hyundai's sales. Volkswagen, therefore, appears to be positioning itself not only to revive a classic, but to redefine competition in the SUV segment in Brazil.
New Volkswagen Gol SUV can support an MQB A0 base
The new VW Gol SUV began to have prototype parts for external stamping and internal finishing being produced by specialized suppliers, inside and outside Brazil. The idea is to have a prototype this year.
Stamped steel components, such as fenders, hood and trunk lid, are already ready. They will be exclusive to the project, which will take advantage of the A and B columns, roof and side doors of two other products already sold by VW in Brazil, the Polo and the Nivus. This indicates that the Volkswagen Gol SUV will inherit the MQB A0 platform from both, in addition to the 2,56 meter wheelbase.
The manufacture of these components is carried out by hand, as there is no tool available in the company yet for this. Hence the hiring of specialized suppliers. They develop parts within virtually established parameters, so that they can be applied to prototypes and used to generate serial stamping molds.
New Volkswagen Gol SUV should have 116 horsepower
In the second half of next year, the automaker should reveal the name and look of the project along the lines of the Renault Kardian. Despite the internal nickname of the new VW Gol, it is not guaranteed that this name will be used. With a length of around 4,13 m and a wheelbase of 2,56 m, the Gol SUV will also be a rival to the Fiat Pulse, costing between R$100 and R$130. Nivus can compete for a range of up to R$150.
Therefore, the new Volkswagen Gol project must be sold with two different calibrations of the 1.0 TSI three-cylinder 12V turbo flex engine with direct injection from the EA211 family: the first, 109 horsepower with gasoline and 116 horsepower with ethanol, being 16,8 kgfm of torque, coming from the pole. The second, with 116 horsepower with gasoline and 128 horsepower with ethanol, 20,4 kgfm, inherited from Nivus, Virtus and T-Cross.
