During this week, the company Hidrovias do Brasil received the first fertilizer ship in the Port of Santos, located in São Paulo, and thus ensured the return of cargo handling operations in the complex. The company Hidrovias do Brasil took a big step towards resuming its cargo handling operations at the Port of Santos, a São Paulo complex of extreme importance in the national port scenario.
This is because a ship with fertilizers arrived at the complex this week, thus marking the return of the company's activities in the area. After the public notice for the concession of the STS20 area, the company is now preparing for a long round of investments in infrastructure and logistical improvements.

Thus, as part of its investment plan for cargo handling operations in the Port of Santos, the company has already installed two state-of-the-art hydraulic wharf cranes, pioneers in the Port of Santos, which have the capacity to move in around 14 thousand tons per day.
In addition, Hidrovias do Brasil is also in the final stage of the construction process of a new fertilizer storage site, to expand operations with this product over the next few years.
In all, the final operation of the infrastructure investment plan will have a total of three storage structures and a static capacity of 190 thousand tons. Hidrovias do Brasil intends to collaborate with the socioeconomic development of the state of São Paulo and will also hire more than 200 employees until the end of the infrastructure works in the Port of Santos.
Finally, the investment project in cargo handling operations will also rely on a computerized operating system that monitors the operational flow and tracks the cargo.
Company celebrates resumption of cargo handling operations at the Port of Santos and expects great future results for the São Paulo complex
The Director of Operations, Ricardo Cerqueira, celebrated the resumption of operations at the Port of Santos and stated: “The gradual resumption of the Santos Operation is a milestone for Hidrovias do Brasil and is the result of everyone's hard work and commitment. We had challenges along the way and, even so, we continued to overcome each one of them to fulfill our commitment to deliver a modern and innovative terminal for the infrastructure and development of the Port of Santos and throughout South America”.
In addition, he pointed out that the terminal of the company Hidrovias do Brasil in the region will have, at the end of the works, a preliminary capacity of 1,5 million tons of cargo per year and will gradually increase to 2,75 million.
The structure will also have a total capacity of 140 tons for fertilizers and 50 tons for salt, thus contributing to strong growth in the cargo handling segment in the Brazilian port market.
Now, Hidrovias do Brasil continues its infrastructure work plan in the São Paulo complex and expects good future results for the Port of Santos in terms of international business.
