Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) announces cancellation of the energy auction in 2022 due to lack of demand from national distributors
The drop in demand for new energy projects in the national sector motivated the MME to announce the cancellation of the energy auction that was scheduled for this year
However, low demand from distributors in the sector ended up leading the organization to put aside the process of searching for new investors
The auction would have as its main objective the attraction of new wind, hydroelectric and thermoelectric generation projects (biomass, natural gas and MSW) for supply from January 1, 2028.
The MME decided to choose to focus on other energy sector projects in the country at the moment, such as the A-5 energy auction, which is still scheduled to take place during this year.
The A-6 energy auction cancellation folder released by the MME also announced the continuation of the A-5 auction, planned for September 16th.
Thus, the MME provides for the negotiation of Energy Trading Contracts in the Regulated Environment (CCEARs) for an initial period of 20 years
In addition, the A-5 energy auction also provides for the contracting of wind and solar photovoltaic projects and their expansions with a supply period of 15 years
The MME will now seek, with the A-5 energy auction, to attract new investments and views on energy production in Brazil
