Last Friday, September 02, Petrobras announced a new reduction in the value of the liter of fuel that would leave the refineries. However, analysts argue that the sudden price drops are caused by the elections, which will include the participation of Jair Bolsonaro, current President of the Republic, and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, of the Workers' Party (PT). In addition, the value of the liter of ethanol and gasoline present great disagreements with each state.
Since July, the governors accepted the project in which they should reduce the ICMS rates on fuels, such as ethanol, diesel and gasoline, in order to control the prices that the population would pay at gas stations. Despite this, the states of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) and Santa Catarina (SC), considered to have the highest percentage of votes for Bolsonaro in the 2018 elections, have ethanol prices, which are commonly more expensive. cheaper, higher than gasoline in the state of São Paulo (SP) after reducing Petrobras.
Now, ethanol is being sold from R$4,99 to R$5,30 in the southern region of Brazil. However, in São Paulo (SP), the value of gasoline reached less than that, having charged less than R$ 4,60. In the state of São Paulo, the price of ethanol is also cheaper, around R$ 3,1.
Due to the drop in fuel prices, it is estimated that in this month of August, the inflation is negative at 0,73%, being one of the largest ever held in the country even before the Workers' Party (PT) administered it. The deflation, or drop in the IPCA indexes, was caused due to a control of the prices charged at the pumps and also in the electricity tariffs, since, during the last two months, most states are opting for the green flag.

Other states, like the Rio Grande do Norte (RN), are significantly reducing the prices of a liter of gasoline, which is being sold for less than R$ 5 in some cities after Petrobras' reductions. This reduction occurred after the service stations flirted with almost R$ 8 for a few months in a row.
The reduction follows the brent oil barrel prices, since, currently, the commodity faces an accumulated increase of only 30%, after having faced a variation above 140% in just one year! Petrobras argues that its prices depend on fluctuations in commodities and the dollar, and, with the US currency quoted at more than R$5, the impacts fell significantly on the pockets of Brazilians and on the IPCA, which made freight more expensive. Now, it is estimated that freight, transport and logistics companies will have a loss in 2022 due to the 10% inflation in the sector that could not be passed on to the final consumer.
Some cities in Paraná (PR)), even with the reduction in gasoline and ethanol prices by Petrobras, continue, however, to charge different amounts above R$ 1 per liter in relation to neighboring states, such as Santa Catarina (SC). The values vary greatly according to each region.
