The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) is financing R$236 million for the construction of a new food factory in the municipality of Horizonte, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, Ceará. This J.Macêdo project promises to strengthen food production in the region and generate many jobs.
A new J.Macêdo factory will produce long, short and 'nest' type pasta, as well as cake mixes. With its own distribution center, the factory will serve the North and Northeast regions, facilitating access to products.
The project will have a recycling warehouse, contributing to sustainability. This will be J.Macêdo's second industrial unit in Ceará, complementing the wheat mill that the group already operates in Fortaleza.
Investment and infrastructure by BNDES
BNDES approved investments of R$ 125,8 million for civil works, such as earthworks, paving, paving, construction of offices, entrances, warehouses and machine rooms. Furthermore, R$110 million will be allocated to the acquisition of modern equipment and machines, which take up less space, use less raw materials and consume less energy and water. Impact on the economy and job creation
According to Aloizio Mercadante, president of BNDES, “In addition to supporting a greenfield project, that is, a completely new investment, which expands production capacity and generates new jobs, financing also has a strong impact on the production chain, since a relevant value of resources will go towards the acquisition of national machinery, encouraging the production of Brazilian capital goods”.
During the factory's implementation phase, 150 direct jobs will be created. Upon completion, this number could reach 200. The production chain will be strongly impacted, with the purchase of national machinery, encouraging Brazilian industry.
A new J.Macêdo food factory in Horizonte, financed by BNDES, will not only increase food production in Ceará but will also boost the local and national economy, generating more than 300 direct and indirect jobs. This is a significant step towards the economic and social development of the region, benefiting the entire production chain.
