Rio de Wilson Sons Base will support BP oil exploration
Wilson Sons, leader in the Brazilian port and maritime logistics market, has established a significant contract with BP (British Petroleum), one of the main global companies in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas. This one-year agreement involves the provision of logistical services for exploration operations in the Pau Brasil block, using the strategically located Offshore Support Base, Base Rio, located in Guanabara Bay.
This contract represents an important milestone for Wilson Sons, reaffirming its position as a pioneering company in offshore support services. With two operational bases in Guanabara Bay – Base Niterói and Base Rio – the company demonstrates its ability to meet the growing demand of the offshore oil and gas sector.
Wilson Sons infrastructure and expertise
Base Rio, located in the Caju neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro's port area, will be the unit responsible for serving BP's operations. With five berths and an area of more than 65 thousand square meters, Base Rio is strategically positioned to support the fields in the pre-salt polygon. Furthermore, Wilson Sons stands out for its expertise in remote operations, setting up temporary bases in several ports along the Brazilian coast.

Gilberto Cardarelli, executive director of Offshore Support Bases at Wilson Sons, emphasizes that recent investments in port infrastructure are a direct response to the improving scenario in the offshore oil and gas industry, preparing the company to meet growing market demands.
Security and performance as keys to success
Winning the contract with BP is also due to Wilson Sons' excellence in Safety, Environment and Occupational Health (HSE) and key performance indicators (KPI). These factors were essential not only for the partnership with BP, but also for recent contracts with 3R Petroleum and Petronas. Wilson Sons' Offshore Support Bases, both in Rio and Niterói, are recognized worldwide for their safety standards, completing a decade without lost-time accidents.
The partnership with BP is not new for Wilson Sons. The company had already carried out activities for BP in the port of Salvador, Bahia, in 2013, and currently has a contract with BP Marine through NFX Combustíveis Marítimos (joint venture between BP and Prumo Logística) for the management of the TECMA Base in the Port do Açu, in the North of Rio de Janeiro, which supports fuel transfer and supply operations for offshore units.
